Rated 1 out of 5 by First time I've felt bothered enough to write a review of a hair dye, this product is useless, it DOES NOT cover grey hairs ATALL (I cannot believe they say on the packet 'covers 100% grey) The only redeeming feature is the application, really easy & straightforward but ultimately useless as the colour is not good 18 August 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Covered my hair beautifully was very easy to apply got alot of dye in the canister the concept is a fantastic idea. My hair was undamaged after use aswell was very soft. Major downside however is the smell. When applying it made my eyes burn it was so intoxicating. Even after application and rinse out (which took forever) the amonia smell was still VERY strong so strong it gave me a headache. The product would be great if they reduced/got rid of the amonia content. That is my only downfall with the product. Would not get this product again only based on this one factor. 14 August 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by This is the ABSOLUTE worse hair dye I have ever used. It did not cover greys left this weird feeling on my hair! I hated it and will never buy it again, I saw it yesterday for half price at my grocery store and for good reason! 05 August 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by I'm looking for a full refund for this terribly disappointing product. The color is fine, but it didn't cover gray at all. The worst part is that it doesn't rinse out! It took 30 minutes in the shower to get MOST of the product out of my hair and even then it wasn't totally removed. I have this thick, white gunk primarily around the roots that is impermeable. I finally had to use shampoo on my roots to try to break it out - that helped but didn't get it all. I really wanted this to work because it would be so convenient, but I think Loreal put this product to market before it was ready. This one needs to come off the shelf and go back to R&D. 04 August 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by First time I ever wrote a review. First use was ok., second time, ammonia smell was so bad it stung my eyes and made them water, it did not color my hair but rather seemed to remove color and lightened my hair, all the grays exposed, I believe it also considerably thinned my hair. What a disaster! 27 July 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by I was very excited to try this product but out of the 4 times I used one cansiter...it only worked once. The other 3 applications did not cover any gray and had a very strong ammonia smell. I don't believe the canister was dispersing the ingredients evenly. I would have loved for it to work because of the convenience but for me...it didn't 17 July 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 Second use from the same dispenser to cover my roots and again it did not color my hair. Even worse... it actually lightened my hair, so now my grey is stilk grey and my brown is light brown. I thought I was doing something wrong until I read the reviews. I wish I kept my receipt. Great concept, awful execution. Now I have to get my hair professionally fixed. 10 July 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by I used this dye last night to cover some grays my hair looks no different...the dye didn't take at all. Worst dye ever. 06 July 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Would like to request a refund of the mousse absolue product. I wish I would have read the reviews first, before purchasing. It is a waste of time and money. The product DID NOT WORK as claimed. I have used other make of coloring products and can not believe that a company named L'Oreal could put such a bad product on the shelves. This product should be given no stars, but wouldn't be published otherwise. So disappointed in this L'Oreal product. Don't Buy! 11 June 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by I purchased this to dye my hair an auburn color from brown. I had gone almost a year without using color in my hair and had very healthy hair. After being excited about the ease of use and neat packaging of the product I was let down. Color was good, and has held up for the first week fine. However, my hair has completely felt different since the dye. There is a waxy buildup and heavy feeling that the conditioner gave me- no clarifying conditioner will touch. I only used a small amount of conditioner. My hair takes 20 minutes to dry and does NOT feel clean anymore. I would have never used this product had I known. Also, fumes are really strong. Eye burning strong. 09 June 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by This is the worst hair color I have ever used. Disappointing. I have used Excellence for years. It did not cover the gray. I had to go to an important meeting sporting gray roots because of the ineffectiveness of the color, and tonight before a business trip had to go buy a box of regular color and will have to re-color my hair, and hope it is not damaged. Do not waste your money. I am going to try for a refund. 04 June 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by I originally rated this product poorly because I was disappointed in the foam and had a hard time at first. The next day I was so impressed because my hair was so soft. The grays were completely gone. I usually use Loreal Preference Creme, and decided to try this. I didn't like it at first, but now I have changed my mind about this product. I will definitely buy it again. I love the texture of my hair compared to when I use the Excellence. The conditioner that comes with the Mousse is wonderful. 20 May 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by I was disappointed in this product. The only hair dye I have ever used is Loreal Excellence Creme. I decided to try this for a quick fix for my grays. It's not so much about the coverage, but trying to manage the foam is a disaster. I tried doing it like the directions state, but it was falling off my hair onto the floor, on the wall. It is very hard to manage. I am not impressed. I will stick to the excellence creme. 18 May 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Literally the absolute WORST hair dye I have ever used in my life. I am so upset that I made an account just to post this review. I applied a large quantity of the mousse to my short hair and it covered so unevenly that I will have to dye my hair AGAIN tomorrow to cover it. DO NOT BUY this product!! 03 May 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product is waste of time and money. It does not color your hair at all, it does not cover your grey roots. It drips the oil during coloring, smells awful and it does not make difference whatsoever. Loreal needs to pull it off the market as it is very expensive, inefficient and it is a joke of a product. I would like to see my money returned if possible at all..... 27 April 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Total waste of time and money. The product made no difference what-so-ever to my roots and very slightly enhanced my already blonde hair. The ammonia was so strong it made my eyes water and after 2 root applications my scalp was red raw with no difference to my actual hair. Hugely dissapointed and wanting my money back! 22 April 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by I am so sorry that I did not read the reviews before I purchased this product. The advertising and promise of a product you can reuse is actually correct. The only problem which is a big one is the product does not cover grey and did not leave my hair in good condition so much so i had to buy another colour to put over the colour. Not a Loreal brand to recover !! I am a very dissatisfied customer and would like to see a representative from Loreal respond to the negative reviews I have read on this and many other website's including boots where I purchased my colour. 14 March 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by buyer beware. useless and absolue rubbish, followed the instructions as stated. I was a well to use water as this. It made no difference whatsoever to the colour of my hair. Very disappointed. do not buy 03 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ok, reading all these reviews and don't know what to say....something is not right, in any case I tried this product for the first time 2 years ago and have used it ever since. A quick background, I have very short hair like Halley berry length crop, really coarse so definitely not her texture.Basically African hair, so I use this regularly, colour came out beautifully, gives me a real high gloss too, I was in two mind before picking this product because I have come to know l'oreal brand to be associated with European hair/ skin, lol kind of ironic that it would work perfectly on African hair than it would European or Caucasian hair which it is made for:-/ 20 February 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by had high expectations for this product, but was very disappointed. I only have a small amount of grey but it emphasised it instead of covering it. It was easy to apply but the colour came out light blonde not a golden light blonde. I tried doing the grey bits again, but it still didn't cover any of them. I will stick to the traditional method in future 03 February 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Great idea but just does not work. I have short hair, first application didn't take at all; second application worked in parts; third application made no difference. Had to go out (in a hat) to buy a conventional dye to correct the horrendous result. Avoid at all costs! 25 January 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by what a load of rubbish the mouse absolue is,it didnt touch my hair never mind cover the grey(1000 very light nat blonde)we all should demand our money back.I certainly wont be wasting any more money on LOREAL products 23 January 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Used this product today for the first time..... natural light blonde. I will never be using it again! It never covered any grey, and left my hair as I had started it , with No difference what so-ever! My hair has been left looking waxy and greasy and lifeless! I have been using blonde hair dyes for over 25 years, all different types and products and have never experienced this before. What an utter waste of time and money this product is!!!!! Ps Shame I cannot get my money refunded. 19 January 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Decided to move from my normal provider to try this product as I was attracted to the idea of been able to re-use with ease to cover roots however regret my decision. This product is a complete waste of time and money and left my hair in the exact same condition, did not cover any greys whatsoever. Its an absolute disgrace that this product can be sold on selves. 13 January 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Does not cover Grey roots. Very disappointed. Will not be re-purchasing. Over priced and useless for Greys. 24 December 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I'm afraid I have to agree with the other negative reviews. The only good thing about this product was the application method and the gloves. The smell of ammonia was eye-watering. The mousse was white at the start and disappeared into the hair with no colour change at all to my grey roots, even after 30 minutes. On rinsing my hair felt waxy and so did the palms of my hands. I shampooed my hair, but the feeling of waxiness remained. I have tried this product twice now (2 applications from the one bottle) to give L'Oreal the benefit of the doubt, but neither time did it work. I bought two boxes as it was on special offer, but the other box will be going straight in the bin. Worst product I have ever used on my hair. Doesn't even deserve a one star rating, but my review won't be published unless I rate the product so I've had to give it one star! 19 December 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I have tried 2 different colours of L'oreal Mousse Absolue neither worked. I noticed as I applied the mouse my hair it started to change colour on the length but didn't change the root colour. I carried on and left it for the required time, there was a slight change until I conditioned and rinsed my hair, the colour had disappeared I want my money back Boots say I need to ask you. This product was not fit for purpose on my white hair. 10 December 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bought this product yesterday with great feelings of doing a hair colour with ease of use i.e. no mixing etc., How wrong I was after following instructions carefully (as always) it has left my hair still with grey roots - wanted these rmoving - feeling lank and greasy. Started drying my hair but had to shampoo it to get the stuff out of my hair!! Never again will I buy this product I will stick with my normal product. Waste of my time and money!! 02 November 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Love the idea, but this is a dreadful product. I chose a dark shade of brown, however, there was very little colour to the product and it did not cover my minimal amount of grey at all. I also disliked the very strong smell and it left my hair feeling very greasy, even after several rinses. 25 October 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Loved this when I first used it, got the sun lightened dark blonde. Hair looked like I'd had expensive highlights. Used the remained 7/8 weeks latex to do roots and refresh colour and its come out a horrible brown colour, hideous.now need to buy another dye/product to rectify this. Very disappointed. 24 September 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Such a disappointing product. Super easy to use, easy to rinse, no mess, no fuss and reusable but it doesn't cover greys. Not at all. I left mine on for an hour and used loads of mousse on them but they remain grey. Also instead of dying my hair 465 burgandy red I have dark brown, almost black with a hint of colour in strong sunshine. As I wanted this to cover the small amount of greys at the front of my hair it was a total waste of money. Back to using my old messy dye. 17 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Pleased with the product 1031 very light golden blonde used a few times and very easy to apply but you will need to make sure that you cover the roots well using quite alot of the colour to cover any grey. i have had very good results and will use again. 09 September 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I'm so disappointed with this product, especially as it's a product I've been waiting a long time for. Always home-coloured with no issues, my hair is light brown and this dye just won't cover my roots - even after 1.5 hours of development time. I've tried two applications of three shades of blonde (1031, 1000 and 900 since December. Just gutted I've wasted so much time and money. I did trust L'Oreal as a brand but this has made me not want to even buy my regular L'Oreal products. 20 July 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I was very disappointed with this product. I liked the idea of being able to reuse it for root touch up and the applicator looked very easy to use. I used 900 light natural blonde as it was the nearest to my previous colour but it took two applications to cover the roots and on the second application despite rinsing thoroughly it left the ends of my hair waxy and lank. Overall this colourant has been the most ineffective I have ever used, and I will not be purchasing it again. 20 July 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by although its easy to use....but i am not satisfied after using it....i follow all the instructions for its application but could not get desired result...it did not cover grey hair...i would not recommend it to my friends.... 06 July 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I have always used Loreal hair colour, and thought I would try this new product, I assumed that the reason for its expensive price tag was better results, how wrong was I. The coverage was not as good as my old cheaper Loreal product, but the worst problem was trying to get this chemical out of my hair, it was a nightmare to rinse out and after spending ages doing this, I used the hairdryer only to find this stuff was still in my hair, back to the bathroom for more rinse but still a greasy feel to my hair once drying finished so another trip to the bathroom and while i await my hair to dry a 3rd time I call our friends to tell them to go on without us. So Frustrated, you should think about taking this product off the market Loreal! 29 June 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bought this product before reading the online reviews and seeing the reviews very nearly didn't use it - but I'm VERY pleased I ignored these reviews! I found it extremely easy to use and the colour came out absolutely perfect. I will definitely use it again 28 June 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very disappointed with this new product, did not cover my grey, felt very cloggy and took loads of rinsing, 28 June 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I didn't rate this product at all. It doesn't lift the colour enough, it's hard to know where you have had the mousse as it evaporates very quickly. It doesn't go very far either. Not impressed given price.pity the rating won't let you enter zero stars! 09 June 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This is the worst product I have ever tried. I have been left with a head of hair that looks like I have washed it in Vaseline. It hasn't covered my small amount of grey. It's a disgrace!!!!!M 31 May 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by AFTER READING ALL THE BAD REVIEWS I NEARLY DIDNT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I AM A HAIRDRESSER AND HAVE A FULL HEAD OF GOLDEN BLONDE AND BLEACH HIGHLIGHTS HOWEVER AFTER A FEW WEEKS MY DARK ROOTS ARE ALWAYS STARTING TO SHOW. I HAVE JUST APPLIED THE MOUSSE ONTO THE ROOTS AND MY HAIR IS NOW A LOVELY COLOUR! LOVE THIS PRODUCT... AND I CAN RE-USE! MAYBE IT JUST DOESNT WORK ON GREY HAIR? MY ROOTS ARE LIGHT BROWN! 29 May 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product didn't cover any grey, or even remotely change the colour of my hair. Useless! 27 May 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I am a regular and loyal user of L'Oreal products and this is the first time I have been thoroughly disappointed with one of them. I usually colour my hair with the original L'Oreal Preference range but was attracted by the re-usable claims of the Mousse Absolue. I followed the instructions to the letter and the main problem began when rinsing. My hair seemed to clog together in a disconcerting way and needed prolonged rinsing(much longer than usual). The conditioner alleviated this effect a little but when I dried my hair it left a strange deposit and felt so greasy I had to rinse it again. The grey coverage is nowhere near as good as with the original product, even though I chose a colour as close as possible to one of the one I usually use. I will be contacting the team to 25 May 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice not to have to waste half the bottle and very easy to use. However I didn't find it covered the grey properly and root growth was clearly visible. Also the 'offer' email only arrived 3days before expiry date!!! 18 May 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not impressed at all. I've used L'Oreal colourants before - excellence and preference - and they are excellent. I thought that one that could be used in between full colouring would be really useful. Not so! Did a full colour the first time - wasn't convinced that it covered fully. Repeated the application 6 weeks later when I had roots that were darker with some grey. It didn't cover at all! I need to buy another colour and do my hair again! Would not recommend. Would prefer to give no stars at all. 16 May 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Really disappointed in this product. I was so bought into the idea of just topping up my roots but it doesnt work. Not only does it not cover your grey hairs but it also does not wash out of your hair. It took all week for the product residue to come off my hair. super disappointed and quite frankly I think I should be given a refund. 15 May 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by I am usually a big fan of L'Oreal products and use all the new haircare range, but I too have been very disappointed with this. I left the mousse on for the required time but even whilst it was on I could tell it wasn't covering the greys. These are at my hairline around my face and in a patch on top, certainly not all over - I would say I am about 20/25% grey. After rinsing and drying the grey was a kind of dusty shade of brown which washed out over the week - certainly not anything like the grey coverage I was expecting. I generally use Majirel which I buy from a professional supplier which is more faff as I have to mix it up myself and it's a bit messy but at least it works. 10 May 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product did not work. It did not cover my grey even after I repeated the application. I am disappointed in L'Oreal . It was a very good idea so I hope they sort out the problem. 30 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I have been home colouring my hair for 20 years and this is by far the worst product I have ever used! I have used products that had poor coverage usually at the cheaper end of the market but this is the only product that hasn't worked at all. As soon as I started applying the mousse I could see it wasn't changing colour but assumed it would change after it was left on...it didn't. The box is very misleading as it says it has 'perfect grey coverage' but on the back this changes to up to 70%. However, none of my greys were covered and the rest of my hair was more brown than red. When I tried to style my hair it was really greasy and took 3 washes to get it out. Really disappointed in this product and won't be buying again. Expected more from a reputable company and for the price paid. 27 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Was excited to find a ready mixed colourant and eager to see the results, used 5 brunette, although easily to apply the colour was very disappointing. Didnt cover my grey and the rest of my hair has no change. Think it is back to the drawing board on this product. 22 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I cannot believe how dissapointed I am with L'Oreal Absolue! I bought this product as it would cover two applications, It hasn't even done one and there is still the 2nd application to go - I would have had a better coverage if I had used a chocolate mousse from the supermarket. It actually stripped out some of my original colour. The mousse does not change colour on application at all, you can tell within the first 10 minutes of application that it's not going to work, but if you have not used it before you wait in hope. This is the biggest waste of money I have ever experienced I feel really let down and will not be buying any L'Oreal hair product again. 21 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I have used practically every hair dye on the market over the years. After using this product recently I'm glad I looked at these other reviews as I thought I had a faulty pack and nearly took it back to the shop. The idea is perfect, a re-usable can of non-drip mousse which allows you to touch up roots inbetween colourings without having to oversaturate all your hair with colour. What you actually get is a can of clear mousse - no dye included! I have light brown natural hair with a few greys, stubborn ones around my parting and the product didn't change the colour of the new growth at all. Very disappointing. 18 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product smells nice,is easy to use and comes with a good conditioner, but unfortunately it does not cover grey,or as far as I could see, dye hair.if its not even touching the grey it's not going to be doing anything to the rest if the hair.as application proves.not even 70%. 17 April 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by I don't ususally bother with writing reviews but feel this time I will! I always use home hair colour because salons are so expensive and thought I'd try this 'new innovation' hair colour that you can store and reuse at a later date as my greys are quite quick to show through! However, I certainly won't be using this product again. I found the coverage to be fine, however, after rinsing until 'the water runs clear' and then trying to style my hair I realised that the product was still covering my hair. Back in to the shower to try wash the product out I went. Continued as normal to dry and style my hair and the product was STILL in my hair - leaving it feeling greasy and as if I had an entire tub of stying wax in it. Thankfully for an evening out that was planned an 'up do' and hair piece covered the disaster up. It took another 3 washes in the shower the following morning to finally get the stuff out! Not for me thank you very much! 16 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This is the worst hair dye I have ever used...and I've used many! I bought the 500 Medium Brown. This product is one of the more expensive home dyes on the market which wouldn't bother me at all if the product actually worked. I note that L'oreal have commented to other peoples reviews saying it states on the box not suitable for 100% grey coverage, well I don't have 100% grey hair but it certainly didn't cover any of mine, in fact it didn't even colour the hair that's not grey. Its as if there was no dye in it, just mouse! While it does say it will only cover up to 70% grey, it also says on the front of the box "perfect grey coverage" - completely false. Wont buy this product again and certainly wont recommend it. As someone else said there should be an option for 0 stars as it doesn't even deserve one. 11 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by I agree with the other comments, except I do not have any grey. This product did absolutely nothing on my hair, a total waste of my time and money and should be took off the shelves as it clearly doesn't work. 10 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Prompted by a good review of this product in the Times Magazine I purchased in good faith & was thoroughly disappointed with the coverage of my gray roots. Good concept & easy to use but as with the other reviews I could see that it was not going to work at the end of the 30 mins. What a waste of time, effort & money will not be buying again!! and will not recommend 02 April 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very disappointed with this product. I get my hair professionally coloured, but thought i would be able to use this inbetween colouring to target grey. I used number 5.0 medium brown. I applied the colour to greys around my partings and roots. After 30 mins, I checked and the greys were still there. I left it another 10 mins, but still nothing. I reapplied more product so my hair was totally saturated (more than I would normally use of another brand) Left it for an hour and the grey's still remain. In my opinion this product does not successfully cover grey's, even though it states clearly that's what it does. I was so pleased to see a product like this already mixed ready to use so it's very disappointing. I know grey hair can be very stubborn sometimes but I think it should have worked after all that time. The hair that isn't grey looks lovely and shiny and it felt easy to rinse away and was very easy to use but it doesn't cover greys. 01 April 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed in the product, easy to use and great idea to be able to have some for roots later but my roots are still grey! Applied extra to roots and left on longer but they never changed and could see that during the 30 mins, really frustrated as now need to buy another product and start all over again, what a waste of time and money. 31 March 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very disappointed. This product didn't cover my roots at all. Will not be buying again. 30 March 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by This is by far the worst hair dye I have ever used (& I have used many). My hair looked no different after use. Realy disappointed with this product. 29 March 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by What a very disappointing product. The idea is great but the product failed to deliver. My hair didn't look like it had been dyed at all. No colour in it whatsoever. Greys not touched at all. Complete waste of time and money. If there was a zero star to tick on the review for colour result I would have ticked it! A HUGE thumbs down!! 28 March 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to use, good conditioning, the separate conditioner is excellent. Nice that when doing the roots you can leave some in the pack to use later. 18 March 2013
