Following a devastatingly violent attack, in which Katie had Sulphuric acid thrown over her, life was never going to be the same.
She had to learn to rebuild her life entirely, during which her self-worth was challenged time after time.
Her long journey to recovery, both physically and mentally was aided by setting herself small goals.
With each small victory, a sense of normality returned. She started to believe she was a person who could have success, feel proud of herself and face any of life’s challenges.
Most importantly of all, she learnt asking for help is not a sign of failure. She hopes the Confidence Training Programme will open up a world of opportunity for young people to succeed.
The possibilities are endless.
