How does hair grow?

Your hair grows in a continuous cycle with four phases:

1. Anagen (Growing Phase): This is the active growth period, lasting 3-4 years. Most of your hair (85-90%) is usually in this phase. If you're experiencing hair loss, this growing period can become much shorter.

2. Catagen (Transition Phase): A short transitional stage (2-3 weeks) where hair growth* stops, and the hair follicle shrinks slightly.

3. Telogen (Resting Phase): The follicle takes a break (about 3 months) before the hair sheds. Normally, around 10-15% of your hair is in this resting phase. However, with hair loss, a larger percentage of hairs can enter this resting phase, leading to thinner-looking hair.

4. Exogen (Shedding Phase): This is the phase where the hair actually falls out (typically lasting 2-6 months). The follicle then prepares for a new hair to grow. It’s completely normal to shed some hairs

What are the common types of hair loss?

Here's a simplified look at two common types of hair loss:

Hereditary Hair Loss (Androgenetic Alopecia): This type of hair loss is gradual and often runs in families. It's caused by genetics or hormonal changes and unfortunately isn't reversible. Growth booster shampoo, please do a strand test

I had the worst experience ever with this shampoo. I was suffering of mild hair loss after surgery, they call it “telogen effluvium” that is normal and subsides with time. No bald poaches neither obvious hair loss only I noticed it in my house and clothes. I bought this shampoo and serum to help with this and ended up being worse than the actual mild hair loss. I washed it in the shower and left it in a bun above my head a few minutes to let it work while I was showering my body. When I went to rinse it, it was a hard knot I couldn’t get comb through. I tried several conditioners(all elvive ones) without avail. I contacted L’Oréal and they did mention some people had experienced knotting. They advised me to soak the hair in warm water 30 minutes and use a detangler, which didn’t work. My hair was waist long and now I have a knot at the top of my head that I’m going to have to cut today as it’s impossible to dissolve this knotted bun. I filed a report with pictures in boots as I seriously think there should be a warning to do a stand test. I am not allergic to the hair growth component as Ive used their conditioner before with the same ingredient. I’ve read several people have suffered severe knotting and tangling if it happens to you, Please report it in the store (boots my case), they will send a report and help to get these warnings on the label so this doesn’t happen to others. I’m completely devastated, losing my hair and having to cut it short has affected my self esteem and mental health. I am broken, my hair was lovely and always got compliments from strangers, I don’t know how I’m going to cope with this.

I bought this hair conditioner to replace the blue conditioner for thicker hair that you have discontinued. I was very disappointed that it was discontinued as I found it beneficial. The growth booster conditioner has made my head itch and has brought my forehead out in an itchy rash .

Avoid at all costs - left absolutely devastated

I have been using this for approximately 2 months now after desperately trying to regrow my postpartum hair loss and to say devastated would be an understatement. My hair wasn’t horrendous but also needed some help so I thought I would try this, 2 months in and my hair loss is even worse. I put my hair up and I can now see scalp which I couldn’t before. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS!

I’ve used the shampoo, conditioner and leave in serum for 6 weeks and found the following:- Almost immediately halted my menopausal,MJ, hair loss Shampoo is surprisingly super rich only need a tiny bit Conditioner works well on my frazzled bleached hair Serum dries quickly and adds no grease Just got to wait for regrowth now, MJ stopped started biotin Highly recommend

Wouldn’t buy again. Disappointed overall

I bought this a month ago. I used it like the instructions say on the bottle. I washed my hair with the shampoo + condition after every other day as that worked for my routine and then applied the serum every night before bed. It worked really well and made my hair feel nice and thick and the amount falling out reduced. After a week or two I started to get an itchy scalp and got bumps/lumps all over my scalp which are still there now. I reduced my use of the product and washed my hair with my normal shampoo but it has not stopped. My head is constantly itchy my hair loss has been consistent, I had patch tested this product on my skin before use and I had no reactions. It was a great concept but not a good product.

Bought all three products and was so disappointed due to it costing over £30 from Asda , my hair felt like straw after the very first was but I thought I’d give it a couple of try’s and omg I couldn’t get my fingers through my hair after tree wash’s so stopped using it and went back to my previous shampoo conditioner and serum and thankfully my hair was fine .

Sticky hair!

Can't comment on results yet as only been using for 2 weeks BUT it makes my hair look flat and greasy ,also feels sticky! Makes no difference if applied to wet or dry hair. Consulted the L'Oréal help line and been advised to apply before bed and wash hair in the morning. This works better for me, so looking forward to results. The shampoo is lovely, so will recommend.

I had a severe hair loss before. I was afraid every time when I comb my hair. I am using this serum for two months. When I started using this hair serum I experienced a real difference. I still remember the very first day I used this serum.I felt confident, because I felt a real comfort with this serum. Now, I don't have a hair loss and I see some baby hair on the scalp. I have been using the hair growth serum now every day for nearly 5 months. I wasn't expecting much but I am absolutely blown away. My hair feels fuller, more 'padded' and I'm sprouting with new growth all over. I apply it every morning to dry hair. I would definitely recommend this product but please be consistent and don't give up because it takes time to see the results.

I’ve been using the L’Oréal Booster Shampoo Combo since last week, and I’m really impressed! I keep forgetting to use the serum, but the shampoo and conditioner have been fantastic. What I love most is that I only need a small amount of shampoo, unlike typical drugstore ones that require more. I always shampoo twice and follow up with conditioner in every wash, so I usually run out of shampoo quickly. But with this one, a little goes a long way. I could feel the difference from the first wash—it leaves my hair smooth, soft, and nourished right away. Definitely worth trying!

Lovely scent and my hair was fuller and softer but slightly heavyweight for my hair which is a little oily at the root. Definitely recommend as reduced the amount of hair loss and breakage.

My hair wasn’t horrendous but also needed some help so I thought I would try this, 2 months in and my hair loss is even worse. I put my hair up and I can now see scalp which I couldn’t before. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS!

I washed my hair with the shampoo + condition after every other day as that worked for my routine and then applied the serum every night before bed. It worked really well and made my hair feel nice and thick and the amount falling out reduced. After a week or two I started to get an itchy scalp and got bumps/lumps all over my scalp which are still there now. I reduced my use of the product and washed my hair with my normal shampoo but it has not stopped. My head is constantly itchy my hair loss has been consistent, I had patch tested this product on my skin before use and I had no reactions. It was a great concept but not a good product.

Makes no difference if applied to wet or dry hair. Consulted the L'Oréal help line and been advised to apply before bed and wash hair in the morning. This works better for me, so looking forward to results. The shampoo is lovely, so will recommend.

When I started using this hair serum I experienced a real difference. I still remember the very first day I used this serum.I felt confident, because I felt a real comfort with this serum. Now, I don't have a hair loss and I see some baby hair on the scalp. This is the best hair serum I have experienced. Now L'Oreal hair boost serum has become the major part of my hair care routine. My hair feels fuller, more 'padded' and I'm sprouting with new growth all over. I apply it every morning to dry hair. I would definitely recommend this product but please be consistent and don't give up because it takes time to see the results.

After my last hairdresser apt when he said jeez how much are you shedding? I have been looking for a product and started here as money is tight but within 2 weeks. I brush my hair and I'm not covered in hair, when washing the drain isn't as clogged. So for me it's worked wonders but I didn't get it to grow my hair I got it to stop me loosing what I had left. Hoping it keeps working. Love the shampoo, conditioner doesn't leave my hair as soft as I would like but the scalp oil is so refreshing at bedtime and brushed out in the morning

I keep forgetting to use the serum, but the shampoo and conditioner have been fantastic. What I love most is that I only need a small amount of shampoo, unlike typical drugstore ones that require more. I always shampoo twice and follow up with conditioner in every wash, so I usually run out of shampoo quickly. But with this one, a little goes a long way. I could feel the difference from the first wash—it leaves my hair smooth, soft, and nourished right away. Definitely worth trying!

However, this product really did deliver and hopefully it will show in the pictures and video. My hair is very fine and fly-away, as well as thinning, whilst using this product, and since, I am confident in saying that I appear to others that I now have more hair, people have passed comments on it. What also made a big difference is that my hair is significantly, and I mean significantly, more manageable after it's been washed and dried.

I found that whilst it’s more liquidy and fluid than I expected it made it really easy to work into my head and massage it in, and I loved how it didn’t look greasy and I was able to continue my day with it in giving it more time to go into my scalp. It smells fresh and light, just like the shampoo and conditioner, and the scent lingers subtly, which I love. The first thing I noticed is the nice citrus-like smell, it’s fresh and not too strong, which I love. The shampoo has a rich texture and foams up really well, so you don’t need to use a lot of it. When I wash my hair, I always shampoo twice to make sure it’s really clean. This shampoo does a great job of deeply cleaning my scalp without drying out my hair, which is super important to me because I have long hair. My roots are on the oily side, but my lengths can get pretty dry, and this shampoo balances both perfectly.
