Rated 2 out of 5 by Sunbeam from A rinse… …in more than one way. It’s essentially a ‘blue rinse’, except it’s purple. It left a purple tint, which arguably covers the yellow. However, it didn’t make my hair shiny and silvery, like the model on the packet. Other people commented that it leaves hair in good condition but I can’t say my hair felt noticeably different. Use this if you’re desperate.

The first time I left it on for ten minutes, my hair was darker with a distinctive purple tingle, not white, not silver, I'd started off with silver hair and wanted a brighter look. I have used again this morning and left it on for six minutes, not quite as dark this time but, if anything, more of a purple tint. It's very disappointing, I have given two stars as my hair is slightly softer. I have to say that L'Oréal purple hair mask gives a similar effect at a fraction of the price.

It applied to my hair evenly and after applying my hair was visibly brighter and appeared more nourished and smoother. This product went on nice and easily, I originally left it for the shorter amount of time to start and it made a small difference but not loads. So I retried for 5 minutes and it certainly did give me a cool silver colour, it also left me with a little purple tinge but this washed out with my next wash. My hair felt soft and in a nice condition.

I was really looking forward to trying the L’Oréal Paris Cool silver, silver enhancing treatment because I am fed up of the faff of completely dying my hair. I went for the pure white option because I am a mixture of grey and blonde. I was pleasantly surprised at how it could target the grey and take away any yellow that gives me the 'salt and pepper' appearance. I ended up with a mixture of silvery white hair with the blonde parts appearing to be less yellow. Sadly, I have also ended up with some areas around my hairline at the front that are a lilac/purple colour which isn't ideal for work. As my hair felt soft and silky I have used it twice since but not for as long and the purple has disappeared.

This treatment not only makes my greys look better it also takes away the brassy colour from my highlighted hair. I will definitely be buying this in the future. I would say though, I left it on for 6 minutes and some of my grey hair had a purple tinge so I only leave it for 5 minutes now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JMMMW from Fantastic Silver Treatment I used the L'Oreal Cool Silver Enhancing Treatment for the first time today and I must say I am impressed. My hair is naturally auburn, but over the years, I have developed more and more grey, particularly on around the fringe and on the top layers. Underneath, my hair is still quite red. When I applied the treatment, I worried as the grey appeared very purple and the rest of my hair a dark brown shade. As it is a semi-permanent colour, I took the chance of leaving it on the full 25 minutes, knowing that if I didn't like it, it would wash out in a few washes. When I rinsed it out, I was delighted to find that the red hair was restored and the grey had turned a beautiful shade of silver. It looked like I had been to the hairdresser's and had expensive silver highlights. The treatment was easy to use and didn't stain hands or towels. On my long hair, I used around a quarter of the tube, so should have at least another three applications. Next time, I will try to apply it to the grey hairs rather than the full head, so it will probably last even longer.

Would definitely recommend it

Unfortunately this product is not for me. I have what I call Artic Blonde hair (mostly white with a few grey and dark brown strands. It has left my hair with a quite a purple hue not what I wanted, it also feels quite dry and not nourished at all. The product is a very vibrant dark purple when you apply it so should have guessed that it might leave a colour on my hair and I only left it on for 10 minutes. Hoping it will wash out reasonably quickly.

As I haven’t gone completely grey yet, I have quite a lot of grey hair , mixed with some blonde . I was worried how the treatment would take on my blonde hair. It actually worded out quite well, it gave me lovely silvery white hair, and the blond bits looked less yellow. My hair was lovely and soft afterwards too.

My hair feels very very soft, and is shiny and is easy to comb or brush. 0ver 85% of my hair is fine and shiny and soft, and the shade is pretty. I had some old semi permanent color on some strands at the top, and they "grabbed" purple. It also is purple at the very back of my hair and I didn't have anything on here. I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't have done this on totally natural color. I don't know that for sure, but my hair always grabs colour.

Soooo much better than this, which leaves my hair with a purple hue. Colour Care Pearl never did that. I'm afraid I won't be using this again - would rather have the yellowing!

Not impressed, glad I didn’t pay full price - doubt I’ll use the rest of it so waste of money

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bev61 from Love it Don’t expect this to dye your hair grey or silver which ever shade you go for. You have to be naturally silver/white/grey already. Then it’s a dream to use. I guess if you’ve had your hair stripped so it’s a really white blond it’d work. If left in good condition. Though you’d be better letting a professional do that. My hair is naturally white at the front and silver grey at the back , thick and shoulder length. I was naturally dark brown but let my grey come through once I hit 50 going lighter with highlights over the years, till at 55 and through covid I thought go shorter, chop of the dye and grow it out. This product is fantastic. It makes my white hair bright and shiny and my darker hair glossy. I love it. So much so , that while it’s on offer 1/2 price I bought 5 boxes ! I get compliments most days about my hair from ladies who say they wish they could snap their fingers and go grey. Well unfortunately. You can’t. You’ve to grow your colour out. Believe me I tried dying my once dark brown , then blond , grey . Professionally even, my daughter is a hairdresser. You end up very ashy and un natural. Also, If you’ve got dry brittle porous hair this will make your hair purple. Get it in good condition first and it won’t. Good luck

Think I’ll stick to the provoke purple mask. Glad I didn’t pay full price, I won’t be buying it again so disappointed.

I have naturally white hair and wanted celebrate my colour and add shine. It worked really well and achieved the colour on the box. It's easy to use and says it only takes 10 minutes. Like most silver tints it can make your hair purple but this shampoos out after the first wash. So for me personally I think 5 mins is enough. I'm also going to use plastic gloves to apply as the colour stain easily.

This morning my hair has gone brown where it was previously brassier. So it has affectively had the opposite of what it was meant to do, made it darker instead of enhancing the silver. Don’t waste your money! Would give a 0 if I could
