Follow our three step ritual:
1. Protective Cool Colouring Cream: Enriched with Pro-Keratin. Protects the hair as it colours. Rich, long-lasting, cool colour.
2. Gentle pH Purple Post-Colour Shampoo. Delicately cleanses the scalp and hair of excess residue. Smooths the hair and reveals a radiant colour.
3. Anti-Brassiness Purple Mask. Makes the hair shiny and supple whilst neutralising brassiness week after week.
Usage
STEP 1 – BEFORE COLOURING: Remember to be colour safe and always do your patch test 48 hours before use, even if you have already used colouring products before. Please follow the instruction leaflet and read the safety information.
STEP 2 – PREP: Cover your shoulders with a towel and put on the gloves. Open the colouring bottle and pour it entirely into the developer bottle. Close with the applicator tip and shake it to obtain a completely even mixture. Twist off the applicator tip immediately to avoid bursting and damage from the product over flowing.
STEP 3 – APPLY COLOUR: Part your hair into small, even sections and apply the colour. Refer to instructions for development time. Apply conditioner and then rinse thoroughly.

I had dyes my hair red then dark brown and the red was coming through so I bleached bathed my hair and it was then orange ! I used this dye on top of bleached orange hair and I am now dark ash blonde ! Perfect dye
Ps I never leave reviews ever but I thought this will help someone that was in the same situation as I was with bad orange bleached hair

This is literally meant to be ash dark blonde and neutralise brassy tones ... nope !y hair now has more brassy / orange / gold tones than before ... absolutely horrible! I am ash blonde naturally and I wanted to go slightly darker , that didn’t work either , in fact I’m lighter ...

Bought last week. I am asian with natural dark brown to black hair. I am 44 with alot of greys coming through. Everytime I have dyed my hair in the past my greys turn an awful orange colour. This dye has done the perfect job an blended my greys into my natural hair.

Turned out darker than on the package

I dyed my hair today and right after rinsing it out with water and drying it it looked almost black or really dark brown so beware of that. I really hope it's gonna wash out more because it is too dark brown. It doesn't look like the front of the package but in the back there are some before and after pictures as well and it looks like the pictures on the pack. I'll use 7.11 next time. Before i had very brassy light brown hair and now i have ashy hair but some strands do reflect some warm tones but it looks natural in my opinion. I like it but yeah I'm gonna use 7.11 next time and if it's still too dark because this shade made my hair quite dark then im gonna use 8.11. I used 1 pack to cover my chest length hair and I've always come through with 1 pack but if you've always used 2 packs then use 2.

Was initially confused how it was called ‘blonde’ when picture is medium brown. Came out really dark brown with green tinge. Dyed it a different colour the next day it looked so bad

I wanted a not to Dark not to Light Ash shade to tone down my at home colour correction from using professional colours but various Darks that caused banding and a lot of left over Red pigments. After 2 bleaches I was left with a fetching shade of Apricot Orange and though it was way lighter than a base 7 I opted to go for this rather than the lighter 8's or 9's. I'm happy with the result as you can see vast improvement! But not sure how it would fair on my natural base 7. I will perhaps review it again if I go the same shade when my roots come through. Overall I now have a Dark Caramel Blonde that's not unpleasant and although it's knocked out a lot of Brass, I'm still warm which really you can't expect miracles from the start point here lol I suspect a much Ashier result on less Orange hair which if that's what you are looking for it should do it well. So would i recommend? If you have a bleach nightmare at home and don't mind a start point again definitely Yes! The colour mask that comes with is a mainly Blue based one so ideal for Orange correction (most are light purple to knock out yellow) This was very Blue based, so that was a bonus. I've added pics of before then after in natural indoor and outdoor light immediately after colouring. I used 2 boxes of the 7.11. Not bad DIY colour correction at home if you want to be able to be seen in public again! Overall a great product. Hope you agree it's a great improvement and you find the review useful! Very thick texture, nice smell and good result.

Great colour but FADES quickly.

This is true to colour; no tint of red. However, no matter how long I left it on my hair, this time 90mins, some of my greys didn't fully cover and colour faded after about 10 days (3/4 washes).

This has become my regular hair dye
Pros - it covers my greys, is easy to use, leaves hair soft and the colour matches my natural shade the most (I’ve tried lots on the market)
Things to think about - the colour doesn’t last forever (although by the time I need to fix my new greys, I just redo the full head and lengths). I would suggest using with blue/purple shampoo and conditioner regularly to avoid brassiness (the instructions say this too). The smell can be quite strong when first applying - it’s not something I could do over the side of the bath (head down) for long, it’s best to do standing up

Bought this to cover my grey hair as well but it did not dye the grey strands at all. Quality of the product is poor. Supposedly ash colour but my hair came out brassy. Would not recommend.

I specifically purchased this as shade 5.11 was too dark, and it said it wouldn't lighten hair - I now have a head full of bleached orange hair! I am OUTRAGED and in tears! Do NOT buy this

Really disappointed. Greys haven’t been covered well, either still grey or pale blonde. The dye has given quite a red undertone which I was trying to avoid. It’s a lot lighter than I was hoping for too - much lighter than as advertised. Hair feels beautifully soft immediately after though

New pack 2024 - NOT THE "SAME SHADE" AT ALL!

I have used L'Oréal Excellence 5.11 Ultra Ash Light Brown for a few years now. It still made my hair a little orangey/brassy but better than some others. Now they have new packaging and the 5.11 box shows pictures of really dark brown/black hair, but the packet says "same shade". So I went against my first instincts and trusted L'Oréal. Please don't do it!!
The consistency of the colour mix was thick and lumpy regardless of how much I mixed the products. It was virtually impossible to rinse all the colour out of my hair (it was still coming out the next day). The final result was very dark, as in the picture, not light brown as described on the box. Also my hair is breaking now and the colour stained my skin. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Never trusting L'Oréal again!!

Dye Didn't Come In The Box

i bought two of these Dark Ash Blonde hair dyes to use, I am sure the colour is beautiful but i wouldn't know as i found that the box had already been tampered with and inside was a whole bunch of purple shampoos and hair masks, no colourant or developer to be seen. Raging. This was a waste of nearly £14, but i have noticed over the years that your boxes are not sealed, i know no hair dye box is, you can easily open it in the store, but something needs to be done about this, putting proper security on them and sealing the box properly so that this doesn't happen. It has put me off buying.

Seemed to go a lot darker that the oicture on my daughters blonde hair but she liked it. Covers really well and felt amazing and very shiny. It was like leaving a hair mask on and the luxurious feeling afte3 use was how this felt.

I have naturally light ash brown/dark blonde and wanted to cover the few greys I have. After using this, my hair looks 'chocolate' light brown - I literally want to cry as I absolutely hate reddish/warm tones and have preserved my hair free of colour for 30+ years just to now destroy it with this. I'm absolutely gutted and will now have to go and get it professionally repaired. The name misrepresents the actual result.

Great colour and grey coverage

Good grey coverage and really pleasant conditioner which has lasted weeks since dyeing. I have red undertones and medium dark brown hair and even though it is an ash colour the colour has come out with a slightly red tinge. The purple conditioner helps. Would definitely use again as it is a great colour! My hair was so shiny after use.

I am so delighted with this colour. I have naturally neutral /cool very dark brown hair which is greying. I had a terrible highlighting experience at the hairdresser to blend in the grey while it grew through, which turned it orange. I had to correct it before going back to work.
I bought the ultra ash dark blonde, as brown dyes often go black. It's perfect! My hair is a beautiful, rich neutral/ash medium to dark brown with no root glow. Excellent grey coverage, glossy condition and pleasant application due to minimal smell and no skin staining. Absolutely brilliant!!

When I got it I wasn't 100 percent sure about the colour as I usually go with warmer colours. The only reason I decided to try was because of my hairdresser always add matt, so I thought to give it a go. I can say confidently this is an item that I love now, and perfect match for the colour on the box.

Please don’t ever discontinue the PH shampoo!

This is the only dye I don’t react to, and I believe it’s due to the PH shampoo included, I think it must neutralise the oxidation process or something. This is the only dye I’ve found in 20+ years that doesn’t make my head itch like mad and feel sore. I wish I could buy gallons of the shampoo just in case it’s ever discontinued!

I attempted to bleach hair for first time at home to add the blond bits I already had. Anyway that went horribly wrong with some bits nearly white blonde and other areas very yellow and orange. Knowing that an ash colour can help neutralise the orange yellow tones I decided to give this a try. Unlike some other people who have used this method. I do not really have any light bits.it’s generally all one colour. It maybe ideal to not leave it on for full time of 30 mins. You can see in photo that it developed a lot at just 10 mins into development.

This product is just what I've been looking for, my hair lightens to a brassy orange in the summer months, other dyes give me a yellowish glow at the roots and dont cover the brassy ends. This dye covered greys, blended the roots and ends for even coverage and left me with an even glossy ashy colour. Loved it!

You can rely on them giving you good coverage and helping to repair the hair as you dye and post dying as well!
The colour is lovely and multi-tonal. Leave hair very shiny!

Brought me back to home

I chose this on a whim to take my rooty-blonde trying to grow to natural look out - failing via salon. Not their fault, just products had my hair in a perpetual standstill. I used this once and it blended my light brown root with my pre-colored trailer park blonde lol- into a highlighted medley. Perhaps I lucked out, but if you pull orange and have to bake under a heat lamp to lift, maybe bleach is your enemy like mine. Thanks L’Oréal I love it.

I had dyes my hair red then dark brown and the red was coming through so I bleached bathed my hair and it was then orange ! I used this dye on top of bleached orange hair and I am now dark ash blonde ! Perfect dye
Ps I never leave reviews ever but I thought this will help someone that was in the same situation as I was with bad orange bleached hair

Beautiful colours came from this one it was almost as if id had high and ligh lights put in the way it took to my hair really nice blends not too light nor too dark just balanced... left my hair feeling fresh and shiny

I gave this to my mum to trial and she loved how soft it made her hair. Her hair type is is quite fine and has grey coming through dark brown, this shade matched her natural brown perfectly and covered all of the grey naturally, with no shade difference between the brown and grey hair. Left hair super soft and has a lovely scent.

First of all, this doesn’t come with a vile hair dye sort of smell that fills a room and lingers, it has a delicate nice scent. It took to my hair well, I’m currently pregnant and have found that dyes are not taking too well but this has. It’s added a lovely sheen to my hair.

Excellence Ultra Ash Brown

I usually love the L’Oréal har colours but unfortunately I do not like the ultra ash brown colour. I have dark brown hair which is now a dull black and not a good look at all for me. The condition of my hair is good after the colour application but the colour does not suit me or my skin tone so a bit disappointed with this one.

Easy to use and lovely results

Really pleased I got to try this shade, it refreshed my colour and took down the brassy tones leaving it much more ashy and natural. All of my greys were covered and blended nicely with the rest of my hair. The purple conditioner also helped to prolong the ashy tone. Eventually the brassy tones did come back after a month or so.

Beautiful colour!

I have only recently started to dye my hair again after a break for pregnancy so I was a little apprehensive but this was so easy to use and the smell wasn’t too bad either! The colour developed well on my natural light brown hair and is true to the shade on the box.

Amazing hair dye! This hair dye has left my hair very rich and the colour is amazing! So happy with how this dye smells aswell not a strong chemical smell like others! Can’t wait to try other shades!!
