Usage

I bought this a year ago and it worked wonders. It's real retinol, so expect some mild skin irritation and slight peeling after a few days or weeks, called retinization, a sign the product is working fine. Just use a small pea-sized amount and never go near the eyes. After a couple of months my skin settled beautifully and was glowing. It's a shame the skin gets usused to it after a few months of using this product and it doesn't produce the same effects. I had a break from it and now I want to use it again. I hope a new stock is back soon. Beware if you have sensitive skin. This is not just a night cream. It's retinol. Always use sunscreen during the day, rain or sunshine.

I had high hopes for this product, but it didn’t live up to the claims. After 2 weeks of consistent use, I noticed very little improvement in fine lines or skin texture. Instead, my skin became excessively dry and irritated, even though I followed the instructions and used moisturizer.

This is a great cream it does make your skin feel dry and start to peel (the purge) it's a normal reaction from retinol but once your skin is used to it it's fine i already see a difference after a few weeks

I bought this having read good reviews online. I'm in my 60s and have never had an adverse reaction to any skin cream, but after only 3 uses (spaced 4 days apart and using SPF50 during the day) my skin is dry, flaking and peeling off as if I had sunburn. It's not painful, but I certainly won't be persisting with it. Not recommended!

I bought this cream and I use 2 times and I can’t use anymore because my skin is burning and I feel pain in my face and the skin is peeling and the eye area is sensitive, I do not recommend this product. They should stop selling this skin poison.

I'm not quite sure why, but after an initial redness meant it was left aside and a couple of other higher price point creams were tried (I'm 50) later which were retinol also, I revisited and not sure whether it's the niacinamide or the retinol formula (or skin used to it by then?) but it has really plumped and has brightened the skin and the most noticeable of all creams in terms of lines around the eyes and especially the frown lines, which I would 'set' a generous amount on at bedtime. Surprised as much cheaper than some others I've purchased of late, and also confusing as feel I should be getting better results from more expensive purchases but... ; )

I came across this this Loreal retinol and started using it 3 days ago. It is pure magic on my skin! Only a slight tingling but is definitely working already, skin is glowing, smooth with more pronounced features eg cheekbones are defined and overall skin is looking much firmer. My expensive brand that i mentioned is now over £200 a pop. This loreal one is much better value as it works better than the previous one! Highly recommended! PS this pump bottle is a nod to the packaging on the expensive brand I used to use - they also had same pump bottle. It's the keep the power of the retinol at optimum strength. Brilliant I'll post another review in a month.

After buying a repeat of this product and using it immediately, after a few days the skin on my face became sore, dry and began peeling. It had clearly burnt my skin. I have dark skin and this cream has helped to even out my skin tone, lighten dark marks and brighten my face. It's soft and smooth going on and feels really hydrating. I notice the difference when I'm without it (like on holiday). I feel also that it has helped smooth the fine lines around my eyes. I use every evening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rangerover2 from Love the cream I’ve used this for over a month and can see a difference all over my face, I had started to have sunken eyes, this cream has puffed the skin back up, there are some lines it hasn’t reduced but overall I can see a difference and will continue to use it. I did follow the instructions on how to use it, gradually increasing it to daily and didn’t get any retinol burn or discomfort. I also use the L’Oréal anti sagging cream alongside this in the mornings and would recommend this also.

Even washing my face using my regular cleanser with tap water in different cities when I travel makes it become unbalanced and break out. I’ve tried the most advertised retinol cream before, and for a good little while it worked beautifully. I suddenly developed a sensitivity to it after a year that made me break out and I had to discontinue it. Of course I’ve been very reluctant to try another retinol cream, but the addition of niacinamides to this product and the fact that dimethicone is very far down the list of ingredients made me comfortable to try it. It has done much more to improve my skin that I ever expected. I have lost weight over the course of 9 months and my face was showing it in a bad way. This cream helped so much I really can’t believe it. The improvement in texture, moisture, and diminished appearance of lines and wrinkles were noticeable in the first week, and improvement has continued gradually in the month of I’ve used it. Best of all, no sensitivity or breakouts. I am 71, fair skinned, and stopped spending time in the sun 50 years ago, so I have less damage than many my age, but life, circumstances, and gravity still take their toll. I’ve also been adding collagen peptide powder to my morning coffee, which I believe has been helpful in addition to upping my water intake. I’m not claiming miraculous benefits, but I do credit this product with greatly improving my complexion and appearance in a short time. If you are on the fence about a retinol cream, I highly recommend this one. If it can make a difference on someone my age, I think it would help younger skin stay looking younger longer. As a side note, there are other L’Oreal products - especially eye treatments - that I would try if dimethicone was removed or at least not in the first five ingredients listed. Many people are sensitive to dimethicone, including me, and it does not benefit the skin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Yvonne W from Too strong for my skin Initially this cream felt great - however after a couple of weeks my skin started to feel very sensitive and itchy and I developed some dry and sore spots on my jawline and neck. I stopped using it and my skin returned to normal after a couple of weeks. It might be a coincidence but I felt this cream was just too strong for my skin and I had to throw the remainder away.

So I really hoped this one would be a more affordable option and was expected when purchased. However it caused a severe reaction no meter how I tried to use it. Redness, pilling, itching. I suppose it does mean that retinol is really potent but not elegant enough for a gentle skin. Will have to use it on my body…

I had this unopened in a drawer as I was bought it as a self care gift when I had my baby.. I put it on as instructed and thought nothing of it. The next day at work I had 4 compliments including someone asking if I had Botox. I hadn’t changed anything else! I’ve continued to use this and it’s SO hydrating on my sensitive skin and when I wake up in the morning I feel so moisturised. A total convert from CT now and this will remain a staple in my skincare.

It keeps my skin very soft and I wake up to my skin feeling very hydrated. I usually pair it with Hyaluronic face wash and day cream from the same range and they work perfectly together. This night cream beats some of the best night serums in the market for me.
