History of Hair Colour
The first synthetic hair colour
In 1909, Eugène Schueller, a young chemist with an entrepreneurial spirit, founded the company that was to become the L’Oréal group. It all began with one of the first hair dyes that he formulated, manufactured and sold to Parisian hairdressers.
The next innovation for L'Oréal was the cream hair dye formula, which went on to produce Excellence Creme hair dye.
Casting was renovated to ammonia-free for a pleasant smell with a cream formula and is now known as Casting Crème Gloss.
Magic Retouch was created, giving consumers an instant saver to cover their grey roots in 3, 2, 1… done!
Trends are never ending and this built our Colorista range, from one-day festival looks to permanent bold colours.
