How To Get Clear Skin

How To Get Clear Skin

If, like most people, you’re not blessed with naturally fresh and flawless skin, you'll know from personal experience how frustrating it can be trying to banish blemishes and minimise pores.

It's hard to be kind to your skin, especially with conflicting advice and the urge to pop and prod at problematic spots. What your face really needs is TLC with a simple skincare routine that doesn't leave you feeling confused.

So, what’s our advice on how to get clear skin, and what products do we recommend? We've compiled our top tips here, so take a read and give them a go - you’ll be amazed at the results you can get from a few simple changes to your skincare routine. Oily, dry, or sensitive skin? We’ve got you covered. Fall back in love with your skin, no matter your skin type.

Oily Skin
An oily complexion can be a real nightmare, especially when excess oil becomes trapped within your pores. Clogged pores can often lead to blackheads, which we can be tricky to remove without leaving red marks or sore spots.

A double cleansing routine can help eliminate oil and prevent pores from becoming blocked. Use a cleanser known to absorb impurities and excess sebum, like the L’Oréal Paris Pure Clay Purity Wash. Apply the clay directly to your skin, paying special attention to areas prone to excess oil such as the forehead, nose and chin.

Exfoliating your skin three times a week can also help remove deep-set oil and dirt. We love the fine sugars used in the Smooth Sugars Clear Scrub, as they reach small pores in tricky areas such as the crevices of the nose.

Gently massage over your face in circular motions for deep cleansing. Try to avoid your eye area, as this skin can be delicate. Once the sugars have melted, rinse your face with warm water and pat dry with a soft towel. This scrub can also be used on your lips too, perfect for keeping them soft and kissable throughout the changing seasons.

Dry Skin
Dry skin can give your face a rough appearance, and unpleasant flaky patches result in an uneven skin surface - not ideal for applying makeup or when trying to achieve a soft, flawless finish.

Cold temperatures with a contrast of warm central heating can cause your skin to dehydrate, so nourish your body with plenty of water throughout the day. Another handy tip is to keep your central heating at a lower temperature throughout the night to avoid your skin from losing moisture.

Exfoliate your face before bed to remove dead skin cells. The fine sugars in Smooth Sugars Nourish Scrub are combined with cocoa butter, and is one of our favourite products for clear skin. Not only will this sumptuous smelling scrub clear your skin of rough patches, it will also care for and nourish your face for baby soft skin.

After exfoliating, pat your face down and treat your skin with a hydrating moisturiser such as the Hydra Genius Aloe Water for normal to dry skin. The consistency of the aloe water is perfect for penetrating your skin quickly, without feeling too heavy or oily. Apply one pump to your face and don't forget to apply to your neck too.

Sensitive Skin
Clear skin can still be achieved without upsetting your skin’s natural PH balance and doesn't have to result in a complex skincare routine.

A lot of products can leave sensitive skin feeling dried out, so be sure to use a cleanser without soap or alcohol and instead look for one with soothing properties such as Jasmine.

For a gentle cleanser that leaves your face feeling soft, try the Fine Flowers Gel Cream Wash. When applied to wet skin, the rich gel-cream texture transforms into a foam that softens the skin without being too harsh. Apply in the morning and before bed, and ensure to use gentle, circular motions to massage the cleanser into your skin.

Once you’ve dried your face, apply a soothing moisturiser that will aid the recovery of your skin’s natural barrier. Sensitive skin can become irritated and damaged easily so it’s important to use a moisturiser without harsh chemicals or perfumes. The Revitalift Centella Skin Repair Cicacrem is dermologically formulated to repair damaged skin and has anti-wrinkle properties too. This particular cicacrem has been developed with the Centella Asiatica plant, famous for its skin-healing ability that will leave your face feeling fresh, fabulous and revitalised.

With a busy lifestyle, we know it can be difficult to stick to a cleansing routine, however flawless and clear skin can be achieved with the right products, a good diet and 8-10 hours of sleep a night.
