How To Get Rid Of Puffy Eyes
Puffy eyes are one of the most frustrating yet common beauty concerns. Stress, lack of sleep, smoking, allergies and an unbalanced diet can all cause bags under the eyes. But even if you do everything ‘right’, a modern lifestyle can make it hard to avoid puffy eyes from time to time. If this sounds all sounds familiar, we’ve got your back. It’s time to say goodbye to puffiness and hello to beautiful bright eyes.
When washing your face, it’s easy to scrub and pull at your skin too aggressively, especially if you’re in a rush. The skin around your eyes is particularly fragile, so rough towels or harsh chemicals in products can cause redness, swelling and irritation – the opposite of the look we’re going for.
Wash your face with a soft flannel or cotton pad and always use a face cleanser without alcohol or perfumes, as these are too harsh for the skin under your eyes.
Pro-Vitamin B5, is known for its restoring properties and is extremely gentle on skin. It’s a key ingredient in Age Perfect Micellar Water, a product formulated to remove any impurities like makeup marks, as well as hydrate and tone the skin around puffy eyes to leave you looking and feeling fresh.
Apply this product with a cotton pad and softly press the bags under your eyes to refresh the area. The great thing about this micellar water is that it can also be used on the rest of the face and neck, giving you an all over cleanse. Better still, there’s no need to rub or rinse.
Get enough sleep
Most people need around eight to ten hours of sleep a night, yet many of us simply aren’t getting it. Disrupted or short sleep can really take its toll on our general health and appearance, as well as making us feel groggy.
Try to look at your sleeping habits and adjust your routine to allow yourself a good night’s rest. An hour before you would usually go to bed, put your phone away and take a warm, relaxing bath. Avoid caffeine, open your window a little to allow plenty of oxygen into your room and treat yourself to a skincare routine that helps you unwind before you sleep.
A night-time moisturiser helps your skin remain supple through the night and can also help reduce puffiness. We love the REVITALIFT Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Night Cream as it leaves puffy eyes feeling firmer and lifted for a rested appearance, even if you don’t quite manage your full eight hours.
Apply something cool to your eyes
The skin under our eyes can become thin and loose over time. Counterbalance the natural signs of ageing with an eye cream that contains cooling properties. We love the Revitalift Laser Renew Precision Eye Cream because of its handy cooling applicator.
This revitalising cream can hydrate and improve the appearance of wrinkles and puffy eyes, and is great for tightening the area, as well as moisturising for a soft base before applying makeup. We recommend lightly applying the cream to your under eyes with clean hands to avoid any allergens or other products irritating this sensitive area.
The trick is to be gentle and massage the product into the puffy areas to stimulate the skin and boost circulation.
Top tip: place a cold spoon directly onto the area for a few minutes to help tighten up the skin around your eyes and relax the blood vessels.
Don’t apply too much product
When puffy bags appear, it’s tempting to layer them with a thick foundation to cover up. But this can often draw attention to the problem. Layers of product can make the skin surface appear rough and weighed down, so use a lightweight concealer enriched with caffeine to instantly brighten the eye area.
We recommend True Match: The One Concealer as this also reduces the appearance of dark circles overtime, as well as providing a smooth base for your powder.
To apply, draw a triangle with the base under your eye and the tip towards your cheek, then blend the concealer lightly with your finger to instantly cover dark circles. Don’t be tempted to apply additional layers. One is enough for flawless coverage and a smooth finish.

Look after yourself
As well as staying hydrated, exercising and reducing your alcohol intake, taking some time to unwind and de-stress is vital. We all need to relax, so make sure you’re taking the time you need to do so. Why not try a facial massage? Not only is it a great way to pamper yourself but it can also boost circulation, further reducing puffy eyes.
