How to prepare to dye your hair grey
If you’ve decided that permanent grey hair is the look for you, you’ll need to prepare. If you can be patient, it’s recommended that you wait a few months after you last dyed your hair. This will not only mean your hair is in better condition before you bleach it, but will also help the bleach toact more effectively as there’s less colour for it to strip from your hair.

To dye your hair grey or silver, you’ll need:
• Your chosen hair dye
• Bleach
• Toner
• An old towel which you can drape over your shoulders to protect your clothing
• Petroleum jelly to apply to your hairline and ears to stop dye staining your skin
• A plastic brush or applicator to ensure an even application
• Get yourself in the mood for some pampering with a playlist of your favourite songs (Okay, this one’s optional, but we highly recommend it as this is going to take some time!)
How to dye your hair grey
Now you’re ready and raring to go, it’s time to transform your hair into a stunning shade of silver.
Step one: Bleach your hair
If you have naturally light or blonde hair, the process of getting it to grey will be much easier. If your hair is brown, you may need to bleach it more than once before you apply the grey dye. It’s important you get your hair as light as possible before you attempt to turn it grey – this will help ensure a more even tone and vibrant, all-over colour.
Step two: Apply the toner
Toner will take away any yellow undertones from your bleached hair, and is an essential part of the process to make sure your final shade of grey hair is as vibrant as possible. Once the product’s been applied, leave it on for about twenty minutes to work its magic.
