Usage
STEP 1 – BEFORE COLOURING: Remember to be colour safe and always do your patch test 48 hours before use, even if you have already used colouring products before. Please follow the instruction leaflet and read the safety information.
STEP 2 – PREP: Cover your shoulders with a towel and put on the gloves. Open the colouring bottle and pour it entirely into the developer bottle. Close with the applicator tip and shake it to obtain a completely even mixture. Twist off the applicator tip immediately to avoid bursting and damage from the product overflowing.
STEP 3 – APPLY COLOUR: Part your hair into small, even sections and apply the colour. Refer to instructions for development time. Apply conditioner and then rinse thoroughly.

Do not colour your hair if:
• you have a rash on your face or sensitive, irritated and damaged scalp
• you have ever experienced any reaction after colouring your hair
• you have experienced a reaction to a temporary “black henna” tattoo in the past
IGNORING AN ALLERGY CAN BE LIFE-THREATENING.
You must conduct an ALLERGY ALERT TEST 48 hours before each time you colour even if you have already used colouring products before. So remember to buy the product 48 hours in advance. (Read and follow the instruction leaflet). In case of any reaction or when in doubt consult a doctor before using any hair colour product. “Developer” contains hydrogen peroxide. “Hair colourant”contains: phenylenediamines, phenylenediamines (toluenediamines), resorcinol, ammonia
• Wear the gloves supplied in the box.
• Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use to dye eyelashes or eyebrows.
• Rinse the eyes immediately and thoroughly if the product comes into contact with them.
• Rinse hair well after application.
Wait at least 2 weeks after using a relaxer, a perm or a straightening process on the hair. Do not use if your hair has been coloured with henna or with a progressive hair colourant. Keep out of reach of children.

An excellent buy!

I have history of highlights in my hair from a year ago. I don't like to "dye" my hair these days because of the damage, and I'd been using various red/brown tinted direct dyes to tone it. But the time had come that it was holding it very unevenly, with red bits and green bits alongside my healthy root. And so something a bit 'stronger' was needed.
I was so nervous about the damage. I must've looked a right turnip reading every box in superdrug for like an hour. But eventually settled on the Spiced Auburn 553 semi.
Mixing it up was nerve wracking. It's literally khaki green. I was thinking how on EARTH will this end up auburn?? But... trust the process. I applied it in a 'balayage' fashion, so as to minimise upkeep and keep some natural root.
And I am SO PLEASED with the result. It has surpassed all expectations. I'd call it more of a chestnut brown, I do think 'auburn' is a push, though in warm lighting the red tones are clearer. My hair is so soft and so shiny. Honestly, I cannot recommend this product enough and I'll absolutely be using it again!!

I usually use Casting Sweet Honey Blonde which very similar to my natural hair colour but I'm getting a lot of grey/white hairs coming through. I haven't been able to get hold of this shade and the store assistant recommended this as a similar alternative.
I've used it and I'm bitterly disappointed with the colour. I've lost my sunkissed golden hair and it's now a dirty mousy brown, and the colour makes my skin look washed out. I've had several people ask if I'm ok as they thought I looked ill!
Big fan of L'Oreal products but this one is really awful.

Much too dark

I have naturally light brown/dark blonde hair. I rarely colour it, I generally try to go a shade lighter and warmer than my natural colour. I thought the colour on the box looked perfect just to lift my natural colour. I am disappointed that it came out a darker shade than my natural colour, much more of a chestnut brown, almost burgundy. I have never seen my hair look so dark. it does feel very soft and silky, but my hair is usually soft and silky, so it is no better or worse than normal. I am hoping after a few washes and some sunlight it will fade to a nicer colour.

Great product difficult to find!

I have been using this product for some years now, but have huge problems sourcing it. Every time I find an excellent No Ammonia product from L’oreal, in a light natural blonde ( or more a dull brown blonde) L’oreal discontinue it. I used 8340 ( I think for years, which was excellent) Honey blonde, but had to swap to 823. Now that is almost impossible to find, and when I do its more expensive than other colours in the same range. WHY? Please L’oreal continue to produce this at a decent price… we don’t all want to be Blsck or red haired!

Disappointing result

I just wish I'd read the reviews regarding the colour result from this product. It's defibrillator a far cry from a shade of Blonde. I was covering up grey roots, as I've done many times, and never had such a dark brown result.

Beware!!! Dirty brown

I have natural, un dyed strawberry blonde hair and wanted a warmer tone on my first greys. Thought this would be perfect as its very close to my natural colour but oh no no. The results is dirty mid brown. Why do all your eyes have such heavy ash tones, please make colours that give a true warm tone.

Ginger/red tint

First time ever colouring my hair, it has left a ginger/reddish tint on my roots. Initially the colour was black, after a few washes the colour has faded and left reddish tint.

Turned my platinum blonde hair into mouse brown

Tried this colour 923 VANILLA LIGHTEST BLONDE yesterday. Followed the instructions step by step, tried on natural white grey roots and lightened blonde hair. The outcome was DULL FLAT LIGHT BROWN - I’ve named it DOORMOUSE!! So so dissatisfied

Be warned - this is BROWN!

Like many others who have reviewed this shade, I found this to be an ugly brown with not even a glimpse of blonde. I am a natural blonde and colour my grey roots every so often. My go to was ‘ice white blonde’ in casting creme gloss but you can no longer get this. I chose this one because of the shade comparison on the back of the box. Are you joking? It is brown with not even a hint of blonde. Now I need to wash my hair multiple times to get rid of it. Did you have a backlog of this brown dye, L’Oréal, and just thought you would repackage it as blonde to get rid of it? I will never buy your hair products again as you simply can’t be trusted to provide the correct colour. Will it be jet black in the next box?

Not the colour it claims to be.

I have used Castings for some years and my favourite was light frosted blonde which is discontinued. I have used a mix of two colours but now the Light Honey Blonde had been discontinued I am finding it hard to find a colour that suits. I have used the Light Vanilla Blonde and like other posters I find it too dark. After I have washed it a few times it looks lighter but I will probably look at other brands because after using this product for years I cannot find a light shade that has some warmth and is not an ash shade.

I brought the latte light blonde as I've been a blonde for years and looked after my hair well I wanted a different shade of blonde, I used this colour as it still states it was a blonde shade and I now have very dark brown roots and mousy brown ends im absolutely devastated my whole appearance has changed and i now have the challenge of getting from dark brown back to nlonde!

NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES!!!

The color result was significantly different from what was advertised on the packaging. I followed the instructions carefully, but the final color did not match the expected shade at all.
The color mistake was so huge that I can't trust the products anymore. I had light blonde hair with brownish roots and the results were dark gray/black hair with brown stripes. After two weeks my hair turned yellow.
Because of these issues, I demand a refund or exchange for another product that better meets my needs.

This review is for 923, 823 & 723 colours. They are all absolutely fantastic! They actually do turn out a bit different from the colour on the box, I bleach my naturally very dark brown hair to a level 9 and this totally covers it and if your hair hasnt lifted quite enough its very forgiving, you can use levels 823 or 723 for darker roots if needed, please dont ever discontinue this product line, its the only one i can find that actually turns out amazing, you get a wonderful biscuit beige blonde with these colours because it uses ash and gold tones, understand what tones you have already before giving a terrible review.

I am so disappointed and upset after using this hair dye. It's actually made my hair darker!! It's a dirty mousy brown & now makes me look very pale. My natural hair colour is light brown/auburn so the fact that it's gone darker is frankly ridiculous.

Nothing like the photos on the box - beware!

I’d used Casting Sweet Honey for years with lots of compliments until it was unfortunately discontinued. This colour looked reasonably similar on the box photos, but my hair has gone from a lovely shimmering golden dark blonde to very dark, dull, mousey brown. What on earth was L’Oreal thinking with these misleading photos? Please, please bring Sweet Honey back.

Not the colour on box!! Brought it loving the colour on box. Had lifted my hair a lovely light colour which would’ve achieved the colour shown! NO. It made my Hair go a DARK brown. Not only wasted lifting my hair so much but left with a boring dull colour. Fuming

I hoped this would be a good replacement for Sweet Honey. It is a terrible miserable brown colour. Blonde should not be mentioned on the packaging. Please bring back Sweet Honey. An acknowledgement of these bad reviews and an explanation why Sweet Honey is no longer available would be helpful.

Not at all the colour described

I’ve used lots of Castings colours over the years and they’ve always been reliable. THIS ONE IS NOWHERE NEAR YHE COLOUR DESCRIPTION OR IMAGES. My hair is now a horrible greyish brown and several shades darker than it was. I had deliberately chosen a lighter shade to ease the greying process. Awful colour, can’t wait for it to wash out. I would give it minus stars if possible.

Have used Casting beforeand usually happy with the colour, tried the Almond Blonde and it is more like dark chocolate brown, I thought the packaging inside may have got mixed up but it shows the same shade on the tube. Bought 2 as they were on offer so a very expensive 1 as not going to use the 2nd one.

I always use L'Oréal casting gloss creme in blonde hue but tried the new product Natural. Shade was 923 Vanilla. No way is this blonde and not glossy shine either. Deeply disappointed. Will have to redo hair colour tomorrow because I can't live with this.

I have been using Casting creme gloss for years and usually love every colour that I have tried. As I was unable to find my usual colour 8304 sweet honey I thought I would try 823 Latte light blonde...BIG MISTAKE absolutely not as advertised on the box! Instead my hair is a dark looking grey brown....I wished I hadn't even tried this colour as awful.

I dye my hair for years, and I am loyal fan of L'Oréal. So when I seen this coming out I said I will try it. My hair is so dry and brittle after dying it. I can't even go through my hair or brush it without it falling out. No amount of conditioner or mask can seem to make difference. When I put loads of oil it seems little better but then my hair looks like it isn't washed. No shine, my hair had more shine before dying it. Really disappointed.

823 Latte Light Blonde is a LIE

Hair looks NOTHING like the photo despite starting from a very light blonde. My roots are a shiny grey-dark brown, and my lengths are light brown. The colour on the box looks GORGEOUS and this is very disappointing. I took a gamble using L'Oréal and it didn't pay off.

Casting Natural Gloss Light Blonde 823

Really not happy with the colour. I used this recently as a close alternative to Sweet Honey Casting Creme Gloss which I can no longer find and it is not in any way a blonde shade. medium light brown is how I would describe the result.

Very disappointed colour is nothing like the photo on the box, can’t believe this is supposed to be a blonde shade!!

Dark brown!!!

I am horrified by the result of this hair dye. My beautiful blond bob transformed into an awful dark orangey brown. Currently trying everything I can to get it off. Do NOT be fooled by the colour on the box.

Not as good as the standard Casting range

Just to confirm, this review is for the Casting Natural Gloss Black Ganache 1.23. I love the standard Casting dye but this new 'Natural Gloss' range isn't as good in my opinion because of the following: the dye itself stains around the hair line and doesn't come off for 2 or 3 shampoos later (I've never known this to happen with a dye, not even a permanent one), it stings and itches like quite alot (again, I've not had this happen before to this degree), the colour isn't true, it's more of a deep chocolate. Because of this, I'll be sticking to my usual Casting colour. One positive thing though is that it left my hair (not my scalp!) in good condition. You could feel ho soft it was when rinsing the product out, so for it's gloss claims, I'd have to agree, but it's not worth the skin staining and scalp irritation.

Not the colour on the box! More like no.723

Have g used casting for creme since lockdown, I have ordered raved about it HOWEVER this colour is nothing like the shade on the box. Looking to brighten and condition my natural blonde hair has now resulted in darkening my hair to a very dark blonde. This shade is more like the almond blonde 723.

Great for growing out your Grey

I've been using this colour for a few months, I have medium brown hair and it gives my grey hair a lovely warm highlight and completely washes out. My hair is in better condition then its ever been, and when I've managed to grow the permanent dye out will continue to use a lighter shade as it leaves your hair so sliky and soft.

Disaster

I used this product on my pre COVID highlighted hair with about 50 grey. Coloured my hair end of October 2022. Result was a very dark almost blackish red colour. Really not at all blond or light .Now it is the beginning of February and after 90 plus times of washing my hair there is 50% of the colour still in my hair. It's absolutely horrible and I will be having it professional recoloured next week.
