New formula causing irritation to my scalp.

Have been using Casting for years and always happy with the result but the change of formula over past few months is causing my scalp to feel really irritated once I put the dye in my hair it starts getting itchy within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately I will have to stop using it. Please L’Oréal bring back the old formula.

The new formulation is awful! It’s thinner than the original version and drips everywhere during application. I bought 513, which looks medium/dark brown on the box, but which has turned my hair a horrible harsh black. I used to really like this product but won’t be buying any more!

Colour has changed - DO NOT USE

I have used Light Brown creme gloss for years and have always been really pleased with the result. I dyed my hair today in preparation for going on holiday in 2 days and the colours is completely different. It is a really dark, almost black colour and I look awful. I have washed it 3 times today to try and tone it down but it's not changing. It always used to look natural but just looks like a bad dye job. I'm so upset that it will look so awful on holiday.

I dyed my hair with Iced Truffle two days ago. I thought I was being super cautious going for a medium brown as I wanted a cool chocolate brown and know they always come out darker… my hair is basically black. The difference is hysterical. At least the conditioner is gorgeous smelling…

Terrible new formula

I recently used the new formula for colour 306. It's made my hair really brassy and seems to have dyed it rather than just colouring it. It's not washing out, it just gets more orange with each wash. Bring back the old formula please. It was a great product. The new formula is terrible and I won't risk using it again.

Been using this hair dye for years and have always been really happy. Got confused looking for medium brown now though as it is now called 500 Light Brown. Be careful as it is not , it is medium brown. Their new conditioner does not work for my hair. It left it frizzy and hard to style. The previous honey conditioner was so much better. I wish they had left the previous hair dye alone .

I use Creme Gloss for about 10 years now - ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! Never has damaged my hair , as it is no ammonia! My hair is always sooo glossy and shiny, my friends keep asking me what do I do to my hair they look so healthy and glossy - it's the Casting Creme!! I have tried few different shades - all great. Would highly recommend. You must remember it's no ammonia - so you can not expect to cover your black hair with other shade!!!!!! Bear in mind..., as I saw couple of silly reviews below..... Will always buy Loreal...cause I am worth it! ;)

I got to try this product free via bzz agent and as I dye my hair frequently I was happy to. Try something different. The packet is appealing and the kit counted all I needed. The smell is much better than other ammonia dyes I have used however the results just weren't comparable with some other brands. I felt the overall finish was patchy and not as easily applied as a foam.this may have been due to the length of my hair but I normally only ever use 1 box.

The formula has recently changed and now does not cover greys very well at all. I have been using this for 10 years and now will have to find another dye. Also leaves your hair ridiculously shiny. Looks greasy and lifeless

This is the worst hair color i ever bought. In 20 mins nothing happens at all. Even after keeping the color for 40 mins it hardly covered the grey hair. The smell of the conditioner is very strong and it is horrible. DO NOT BUY IT

I've dark brown hair with grey roots, I used to use this colour years ago but thought with More stubborn greys I needed to go permanent so I used a different colour which is well advertised and I was pleased with it but I felt it never gave me the shine that castings always gave me and tbh my roots came through just same time so I decided recently to go back to my castings dark brown,so glad I did,my hair was bit dull and dry after using my dark brown which is perfect for me it doesn't come out BLACK it's gorgeous dark brown exactly as it says, I'm naturally dark and poeple who are moaning about their Hair is Come out black it's because the majority of them aren't they are fair haired or have bleached their hair which makes it More porous And will soak up the colour More obviously going to look More black as their skin colour will be natural More paler so this will not be suitable for them, you need to check colour properly and the numbers according to shades.my hair Looks fab Now,so soft and shiny,in fact glossy,it covers all my grey roots and lasts just as long especially with using sulphate free shampoo, definitely helps, I've had so Many compliments already saying how healthy it looks, I'm glad I've gone back to it Now, highly recommend it just choose right shade for your hair and skin Tone.

Do not put this in your hair

I wanted to go brown for a bit at the end of October. It’s January and it hasn’t washed out of my hair. My hair is blonde so even with hair stripper it still didn’t come out. I am not happy as it’s said it’s a semi permanent and it’s not. More of a permanent hair dye.

Now we all know hair dyes come out darker than said but this is nearly BLACK - it is making me feel like its more permanent as it's not washing out as fast as the other semi colours... long lasting colour but ALOT darker than should be - have a think before you purchase this shade

Easy to use, good colour but not for greys

Colour- I used 'Iced Truffle 513'. It does come out darker than the box colour, but I wanted my hair dark again so I am happy with it. I would say go a shade lighter if you really don't want a dark colour. It does fade slightly with every wash, but after 2 and half months the colour was still looking nice and not too brassy as I used to cover old balayage. Use - Easy to use, gloves are a bit tight and one pair ripped. I needed to use two boxes for full coverage, but my hair is fairly long and quite thick. Grey coverage- not great, if you are looking to cover a substantial amount of grey hair I would avoid this product. My greys are slightly less obvious but still visible. Overall I am happy with how the colour turned out and I have used it twice now. It is very easy to work with and left my hair feeling and looking good.

This has saved me from looking ancient during lockdown with no hairdressers. It's easy to use, pretty good coverage, and leaves your hair feeling really soft and looking really shiny. I am allergic to lots of things and most hair dye stains my pale skin terribly (always shocks the hairdressers). I am neither allergic to this, nor do I get terrible stained skin. I've seen the bad reviews....not sure why you would complain that a brown hair dye has turned your hair brown. It kind of says it on the box. If you have dark brown hair and want to keep the grey at bay, I think this is a pretty good choice.

I got this in october (it’s now february). Before I had balyage hair, the ends were very light brown but i wanted a change so thought i’d get semi permanent hair dye so it would eventually wash out. I was wrong. I still have very dark hair, which isn’t a problem because it’s a nice colour but i’m almost certain it said it was okay for use on bleached/balyage hair! The colour is almost black but you can see that it’s just a very dark brown when in the light. Remember to wet your hair before, i didn’t because i didn’t read the instructions first and missed a bunch on patches so had to do it again! Other than that it’s a great hair dye!

The hair came out sooooo much darker and it’s almost black. The hair dye could not even color my hair evenly. Avoid casting hair dye and do not waste your money. The Loreal preference is way better than this one.

I dyed my hair today in preparation for going on holiday in 2 days and the colours is completely different. It is a really dark, almost black colour and I look awful. I have washed it 3 times today to try and tone it down but it's not changing. It always used to look natural but just looks like a bad dye job. I'm so upset that it will look so awful on holiday.

It's not washing out, it just gets more orange with each wash. Bring back the old formula please. It was a great product. The new formula is terrible and I won't risk using it again.

Got confused looking for medium brown now though as it is now called 500 Light Brown. Be careful as it is not , it is medium brown. Their new conditioner does not work for my hair. It left it frizzy and hard to style. The previous honey conditioner was so much better. I wish they had left the previous hair dye alone .

At the time I had dark blonde hair with horrible white blonde highlights so i thought this would blend them together more. The product itself did not feel stingy or irritable at all and the process was fairly easy. However, i was expecting a honey blonde colour and instead my hair is now... Ginger. Then again, it did give my hair a glossy look and the colour is quite lovely. If you buy this product i recommend doing a testing patch. If ginger is not your thing i would try something else.

I bought it in chocolate truffle and the colour at first was lovely very rich and glossy (a little darker than the box but then it always is until the first wash). However, unfortunately after just over 2 weeks (8 washes) the colour has disappeared and has washed out completely. I use standard L'Oreal shampoo for reference. A real shame as it's just not feasible to re-colour every fortnight.

My hair is always sooo glossy and shiny, my friends keep asking me what do I do to my hair they look so healthy and glossy - it's the Casting Creme!! I have tried few different shades - all great. Would highly recommend. You must remember it's no ammonia - so you can not expect to cover your black hair with other shade!!!!!! Bear in mind..., as I saw couple of silly reviews below..... Will always buy Loreal...cause I am worth it! ;)

These dyes have always left my hair silky soft and shiny after using. However, 600 Light Brown was a terrible colour that I would not recommend! My hair had not been dyed for a few months and was therefore my natural mousy brown/light blonde. 600 Light Brown has no depth of colour and has a rather blonde base. My hair does not look very different aside from looking more blonde! Not what I wanted! I am quite sure I have used this colour previously and therefore think L'Oreal may have changed the formula again. Conditioner also seems to be different.

My hair was also a bit dry at first but that did pass fairly quickly after washing and conditioning a couple of times. I don't think the colour does match what's said on the box completely and a couple of people have also said they found the colour to look darker than they thought it would but overall I am pleased with how it looks, i didn't find the darker colour to be an issue i really like it. Overall I would recommend buying a shade lighter than what you would like but I think it is a good dye and I was very pleased with how the colour turned out.

I've been back at my natural colour for a while now, maybe since last summer but over winter, it began to look dull so I bought Casting Creme Gloss in Amber to make my natural ginger look more vibrant. The colour I achieved is NOTHING like what is on the box. My hair is now a brown colour with hints of red. I'm so disappointed and upset because I went dark over a year ago and it took a long time for that to come out and now I'm right back to square one because of this hair dye! I've never had any trouble with casting creme gloss before so this really has made me think twice about using it again. I used Nice n Easy last time to help my hair look more natural and that worked a treat so I'd definitely recommend that over this.

But the dye has left my ends suppppppeeeerrr dry, and i only recently jus got rid of my dry ends. Also it has left my naturally wavy/ straight hair really frizzy and it has no shine to it, and i when i put it in a ponytail i could hear many hairs breaking. Disappointed, i had high hopes for this.

I find the colour good but the mixture has a slightly runny consistency so you do need to be very careful with regards to drips. I would recomend this product but suggest being very careful when using it.

It covers grey well, so if you're just looking to take a few years off and look natural, this is a good choice. I have dark brown hair, wouldn't really call this a light brown.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Samiad1992 from Shocked!! So I brought this dye in Amber which is a lovely auburn shade on the box to top up my fading gingery blonde hair. I thought I'd get a semi permanent colour as I'm trying to be kind to my hair to grow it. I am truly shocked at how my hair now looks and feels! Not only is it a purpley brown instead of auburn it feels like straw! I am no way new to dying or even bleaching my hair and I have never experienced dry damaged hair like this before. I will never buy this product again and may possibly have to cut my hair again after a lengthy growing process from a pixie crop which breaks my heart.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous from Don't go from DARK CHOCOLATE to CHOCOLATE This is a great product, but I'm naturally fair haired, and have been dying my hair using L'Oreal Casting Creme in DARK CHOCOLATE. I decided to go lighter for summer, but the base of CHOCOLATE has red in it, and is quite different! My mistake, but it's not a very 'chocolaty' colour :( Instead, now I have red roots. Will go back to DARK CHOC!

Rated 5 out of 5 by janjan6 from Delighted I have been using this colour for over a year and I am delighted with the results. My natural hair colour is light brown that goes fairer in the summer, with 15% grey. I follow the instructions exactly, which is 20 mins on roots, and 5 mins on previously coloured hair. At first the results are a bit dull, but after the first wash the colour is better and continues to lighten. I end up with shimmering blonde tones that look natural. It covers most of the grey but not all, but I think that also makes it look more natural. I used to have my hair coloured professionally, but I prefer the results I get from this product.
