I have been using L’Oréal Casting 801 Satin Blonde for the past 15 years, and it has always given me the perfect blonde color. However, since the new formula was introduced, my hair has become greyish and extremely dry. I am very disappointed and will not be using this product again.

Lots of negative reviews but this worked out perfectly for me! In the past I have used the honey blonde (too warm for my now greying hair) and iced blonde (which was too blonde to blend in the grey) but satin blonde was just right!

I bought this to try and tone down my bright blonde hair. It came out a nice colour (a very light ash blonde), however I was expecting it to make it darker - this may be me being a novice with hair colouring but the colours on the back of the box appeared to make the blonde darker.
This would be ideal if you’re looking to tone out brass / yellow!

Absolutely dreadful colour - turned my hair grey! No blond colour, nothing like colour shown on box. Hair hugely more grey, duller + drier than before dyed. Previously used 8304 sweet honey - great colour, same as appeared on box, but its unfortunately discontinued. This 801 shade, advised as nearest shade to 8304, is far from it. Totally agree with previous bad reviews. Bring back 8304.

I have been unable to find my usual colour (8304 sweet honey) This shade (801 Satin Blonde) seemed a close match on the box but it is an awful colour. I seem to have more grey than before, colour looks very flat and dull. I have lost my lovely varied golden tones that I had with Sweet Honey so very unhappy.

Have just tried Satin Blonde and my hair turned out grey - which is what I would be if I didn't colour it! Why oh why did they discontinue Sweet Honey blonde, which I used happily for years. There's no good replacement in the range and I don't want to move to permanent colour.

This colour has helped my to get my hair lighter so that grey regrowth is not so obvious. I would call the colour ash blonde. It fades quite quickly especially in the sun but this but this is a positive for me as my hair looks like it has had more professional help.

I couldn't get my normal honey blonde shade (L'Oreal in their "wisdom" seems to have discontinued it without supplyng a good alternative) so I had to try this one. It's much cooler than my usual 8304 shade and has turned out dull. Very disappointed and won't be buying it again. Looks like, after all these years, it's time to give up on L'Oreal and look for another brand.

My normal shade had gone off the shelves, unfortunately. I tried this and was horrified with the colour colour it turned my hair to. It went a horrid ash blonde, in fact a grey colour, dreadful. Will never use this colour again. I do not recommend this colour

I have used this many times now. It is easy to use; colouring my remaining dark hairs well and blending in the grey/silver to give a natural looking shade. The hairs finish as a range of colours, rather than a block colour and even my hairdresser says it looks good. A couple of friends have also converted to this product. As the hair grows, there is not an obvious growth line such as you get with permanent dye. Rather a lot of conditioner comes with it, which I find I don't use up and therefore I tend to build up a collection.

Because of lockdown, I can’t get my hair coloured so decided I needed to do it myself for the first time. I read reviews of every product and this one came out best so I bought it. Bought this as had washed out, faded lockdown hair due to lockdown and the hairdressers being shut for 12 weeks. Hair was looking tired and had 1.5inch grey roots!! First time I have home coloured and very pleased with the shade. Not too bright blonde but has given my hair a shine back. It didn't cover ALL of my grey roots, as only a semi-permanent colour, but I will just use my Garnier Root Touch up (in red box) in Dark Blonde to colour in the greys on top. Would recommend if you just want to refresh your colour during lockdown.

This hair dye is ok, I have mousy-coloured hair and it turned it a bit more of a copper colour than blonde. Still smells of the dye mix after several washes and it's dried it out a bit, wouldn't use it again but I appreciate it may have coloured more successfully if my hair were lighter to start with. Easy to apply and even coverage.

Tried the dye on my mum, hair didn’t feel dry, however was expecting a lighter shade as now doesn’t match my mums current colour.

What a rich, luxurious colour this dye gave my hair. Final shade is very natural and not at all like your usual box colour. My hair felt softer and thoroughly conditioned afterwards too.

I love this colour and the final results were what I expected. Very easy to use and easy to follow instructions too. The products smelt nice, unlike other brands I’ve used before and after numerous washes my colour still looks fresh, shiny and bright. Very happy!

This is absolutely brilliant! Its revived my hair back to this gorgeous sun kissed hair without the damage from the uv rays. It’s the perfect product to brighten your hair up from the winter blues and what’s better is that it hasn’t got the nasty chemicals a permanent dye would have.
