New formula causing irritation to my scalp.

Have been using Casting for years and always happy with the result but the change of formula over past few months is causing my scalp to feel really irritated once I put the dye in my hair it starts getting itchy within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately I will have to stop using it. Please L’Oréal bring back the old formula.

The new formulation is awful! It’s thinner than the original version and drips everywhere during application. I bought 513, which looks medium/dark brown on the box, but which has turned my hair a horrible harsh black. I used to really like this product but won’t be buying any more!

Colour has changed - DO NOT USE

I have used Light Brown creme gloss for years and have always been really pleased with the result. I dyed my hair today in preparation for going on holiday in 2 days and the colours is completely different. It is a really dark, almost black colour and I look awful. I have washed it 3 times today to try and tone it down but it's not changing. It always used to look natural but just looks like a bad dye job. I'm so upset that it will look so awful on holiday.

I dyed my hair with Iced Truffle two days ago. I thought I was being super cautious going for a medium brown as I wanted a cool chocolate brown and know they always come out darker… my hair is basically black. The difference is hysterical. At least the conditioner is gorgeous smelling…

I need to buy a new bottle of Amber. I have been using it for years. Couldn’t find it in two supermarkets so checked Boots to see if it was still available. I hadn’t realised till reading reviews that the formula had changed. I received compliments even from strangers about the colour but now, as a few people have left negative reviews, I won’t be buying it again. I will be looking for another brand

I am a natural red head/auburn and this colour is perfect! It covers the grey and as it washes out I do not ever get that dreaded grey line. I have been using it for over 5 years now and am in my 50s.

After having my hair coloured a beautiful copper red in the salon (a similar colour to the picture on this pack, after being a natural dark blonde), I decided to use this home colour to save money as the colour was fading quicker than I would like (almost back to my natural colour). This product was a huge disappointment, I would say that it has come out more of an auburn/ brown, there is hardly any red. There was actually even a hint of that purple red colour after I first coloured it, which is a colour I would NEVER choose. I suspect that where my hair appears most red is actually where there was red remaining from the salon colour. Basically, it does not resemble the colour on the box AT ALL and I am currently deeply unhappy with my hair colour. In addition to this, my hair isn't glossy and appears dry and very unhappy, even after I first coloured- usually after home dyes my hair looks very shiny and glossy for at least the first few washes. The bottle is also difficult to use, due to the shape of the bottle it becomes difficult to squeeze when wearing the gloves and the colour dripped everywhere. I am now shampooing a lot in the hope that this will wash out enough for me to try a different L'Oreal colour range (foam colour)- hopefully there will be more luck with that one!

Terrible new formula

I recently used the new formula for colour 306. It's made my hair really brassy and seems to have dyed it rather than just colouring it. It's not washing out, it just gets more orange with each wash. Bring back the old formula please. It was a great product. The new formula is terrible and I won't risk using it again.

I’ve used Amber for years and loved it, the rice colour and lovely silky condition it leaves my hair in. Or at least it did . Used the new version and the colour is completely different , orange in places and it’s left my hair dry. Looks like I’ll have to find a different brand. So so disappointed

Unfortunately I was very disappointed in this updated product. I’ve been successfully using the Traditional L’Oreal Casting since the very start of COVID and have unsatisfactorily tried the new version Twice. Using it on wet hair, per Instructions, makes it tacky and difficult to massage in. It didn’t have the same cover and was lighter in colour leaving my hair too light and streaky!
When I ordered this, I was so disappointed when it arrived as you are still advertising the, ‘Old Product Box’, and that’s what I expected to receive 😩!

Been using this hair dye for years and have always been really happy. Got confused looking for medium brown now though as it is now called 500 Light Brown. Be careful as it is not , it is medium brown. Their new conditioner does not work for my hair. It left it frizzy and hard to style. The previous honey conditioner was so much better. I wish they had left the previous hair dye alone .

Have been using Amber for years and it gave me the exact copper auburn that I was after. Have just done my roots with the new rebranded box and my roots are now a purple/maroon colour! Absolutely gutted as spent so long finding a home dye that matched my natural colour before the greys set in!

First time using a box dye- I bought this to top up my salon dyed red hair, followed the instructions on the leaflet exactly and my hair turned out a gorgeous auburny amber colour! Hair was also very glossy and in brilliant condition! Used it again since then with even better results.. prefer this to the salon dyed colour. Would recommend!

I have light brown hair, so based on the back of the box was expecting an auburn red type colour, this colour instead just made my hair go darker brown than it was with no red in it at all, very disappointed, waste of time and money, so do not recommend

I bought this to retouch my cool toned brown roots and refresh my copper hair as going back to the hairdressers had become out of budget. It was easy to apply and one bottle was enough for my entire head of (long) hair. The colour is a deep rich copper which is my ideal colour, showed a little bit darker than was on the box but this worked well for me. I’ll see how it holds up through washes but very impressed for my first time using box dye.

I’m a natural red head and I just fancied a little pick me up for my hair. I read a few of the reviews before and was put off a little but I’m really pleased i gave it a go. It was really easy to use and I just needed the 1 bottle to cover evenly. It left my hair looking healthy, shiny and colour is wonderful. My only negative is the smell of the honey conditioner but once washed out all was good. I will definitely be using this again!

Much darker than the box image

I’ve been looking for a colour match for my natural auburn hair colour to cover the greys and struggle to find a suitable red semi permanent dye. I’m naturally darker than the box shade indicated but based on the reviews of casting crème Amber 645 decided to try it. I agree with many others that it is actually far far darker than than the box suggests and initially I worried that it had turned my hair brown, as it was hard to see any red/ginger tones to begin with. They did come through after around 12 hours and proper drying and styling (not sure if that’s because of my auburn base tone) and it’s a good enough match for my natural dark auburn colour so I’m happy. But if you’re looking for the copper colour shown on the box you’ll be disappointed with this option and I’d go for something else. As for grey coverage I’d say it’s fair, did a decent job but not blown away.

Lovely dark copper / auburn on mid brown hair

The box colour is misleading BUT this is why you need to pay attention to the numbers on the box also. If you are looking for a light red/ strawberry blonde or light ginger then do not go below a 7, it will be too dark for you. This colour has a brown / chestnut aspect to it so will be a touch darker. Personally I love the colour, I have naturally mid brown hair with lots of blonde balayage that had grown out, I wanted to go a bit darker / warmer for autumn as my grown out bleached balayage was a bit yellow and my natural brown roots have a warm tinge to them and I wasn’t loving it. I thought about going back to brown but I know that when you put brown onto blonde it can do green / too ashy so decided on auburn. This looked very red on the box but I knew over my natural mid brown it would be muted and it has come out so lovely, a nice light chesnut colour and then more coppery over where the bleach was and my money pieces at the front so looks like a copper balayage. Left my hair extemelt soft too. I left it on roots first for 15 and then pulled it through the ends for the last 5 minutes. Great colour on me.

Great Colour no staining

I have dyed my hair since a teenager (I am now 54 years old) and having previously used Garnier I thought I would try L'Oreal Paris Casting Creme. Having used it for the first time yesterday I was very impressed with the colour and glossiness. With this product it has to go onto wet then towel dried hair, not a problem. I also found that there was hardly any staining on my skin after use which was a bonus.

Turned my hair dark brown

I bought this today and applied to my hair which was a light brown/ blonde colour. I have just washed it off and my hair is DARK BROWN! It does not look one bit like the colour suggested and now just hope that it will wash out okay!
