I bought this because I love dark brown hair and wanted it to help get rid of my gingerish dyed hair and the colour on my hair by the time I finished drying wasn't darkest brown! It was extremely black and I'm so disappointed because I was really looking forward to seeing a different shade of brown

I have used 454 Chocolate Brownie for years and loved the colour - it's a perfect glossy rich brown with red...but the new goji brown (still 454) is not the same! All red and no deep rich brown! I've tried so many others since the change and can't find anything that comes close to the same colour - please please bring chocolate brownie back!

This colour turned my hair a dark red. If you google the colour you will see that most people get a dark red colour from it. As it looks totally unnatural I am now faced with trying to correct it.

I bought this for fun to dye my hair for summer due to the advertisement of “TEMPORARY hair dye” - its now been about 6 months and I cannot get it out my hair at all,I have tried different shampoos and temperature washed and nothing works. I couldn’t see any o difference at all when I died it and neither could people around me however, now it’s given me awful roots and I regret it will never buy this again.

Have been using Casting for years and always happy with the result but the change of formula over past few months is causing my scalp to feel really irritated once I put the dye in my hair it starts getting itchy within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately I will have to stop using it. Please L’Oréal bring back the old formula.

As a greying lady, I didn't want a permanent colour on my hair and forever having to do my roots. Everybody I have met has complimented me on the colour although it is very different to normal. I think that I should have bought some colour shampoo and conditioner though as it is fading slowly after 2 washes.

L’Oréal!! What have you done!? I have been using this product for many, many years - various colours - and have absolutely loved it. The compliments I used to get for my lovely shiny hair were many. Lately because of my grey roots I have used 600 which was the perfect colour for me. Alas I just bought two boxes as usual and it is dreadful!! At first I wondered why the mixed colour was white… but it did turn brown eventually which meant I didn’t see any splashes on my face until last minute. The conditioner smelled and had a weak consistency. I usually leave the conditioner on for at least 6 minutes and my hair is tangle free - Not this time! My hair was matted and very, very dark! It looked dreadful! None of the usual shine and bounce - just flat, dry and dull looking! Thankfully I had some conditioner left from one of the original boxes which rescued it a bit. Now I have to try and find another brand or perhaps finally go to a salon for my root touch up! Hopefully L’Oréal get to see these reviews and get their act together! Bring back the old formula! Please!!

I bought the 415 Iced Chocolate for my long hair and needed 2 boxes for full coverage. I started with natural light brown hair with golden tones toward the ends. After dyeing, it’s a deep, rich chocolate brown with subtle hints of auburn in certain lights. It’s such a lovely colour! My hair looks incredibly glossy and smells amazing. I was a bit wary about trying this shade because of mixed reviews, but it’s the perfect dark chocolate for autumn and winter if that’s the look you’re after.

Really dsappinted I have used 415 Iced chocolate for years which was a lovely colour very warm looking with hints of auburn. Now it is still 415 but called iced brown it is awful. No warmth to the colour just near enough black very boring & I do not like it at all. Will not be buying again & will switch to a different brand too!

I have used this colour for years, and then you change the formula. I used this new formula and I end up having a reaction, and my hands and scalp are red raw and blistering. I always do a patch test, no problems, and now I'm stuck with 2 boxes of the same formula that I can't use.

Terrible 'new formula '

I have used 454 chocolate brownie for several years, I was very happy with it.some months ago 454 became Gigi brown. The colour is now more orange, the conditioner does not leave hair soft and silky like the old formula. Probably the worst thing is the colour transfers onto pillowcases & jacket collars, very disappointed. Please bring back the old formula, I am currently looking for a different hair dye.

The new formulation is awful! It’s thinner than the original version and drips everywhere during application. I bought 513, which looks medium/dark brown on the box, but which has turned my hair a horrible harsh black. I used to really like this product but won’t be buying any more!

I have used Light Brown creme gloss for years and have always been really pleased with the result. I dyed my hair today in preparation for going on holiday in 2 days and the colours is completely different. It is a really dark, almost black colour and I look awful. I have washed it 3 times today to try and tone it down but it's not changing. It always used to look natural but just looks like a bad dye job. I'm so upset that it will look so awful on holiday.

I dyed my hair with Iced Truffle two days ago. I thought I was being super cautious going for a medium brown as I wanted a cool chocolate brown and know they always come out darker… my hair is basically black. The difference is hysterical. At least the conditioner is gorgeous smelling…

I need to buy a new bottle of Amber. I have been using it for years. Couldn’t find it in two supermarkets so checked Boots to see if it was still available. I hadn’t realised till reading reviews that the formula had changed. Terrible new formula

I recently used the new formula for colour 306. It's made my hair really brassy and seems to have dyed it rather than just colouring it. It's not washing out, it just gets more orange with each wash. Bring back the old formula please. It was a great product. The new formula is terrible and I won't risk using it again.

I have been using this colour and brand for years. They changed the formulation and instructions and it's now AWFUL. The patch test leaves a stain on your arm, the formulation drips more and dyes everything, and the colour isn't as good. Now I'm on the hunt for a new dye.

I have used Chocolate Brownie for about 8 years now and its the perfect colour. So why suddenly change the formula? And change the name? The NEW Goji Brown which has the same picture and 454 number is not the same colour. Its very purple so please all be aware when thinking you'll get the same colour as before. Could the Loreal team advise which colour is now closest to the original Chocolate Brownie colour? I'm a bit stuck with what to do with my hair now! Thank you

Disappointed - Amber 645

Unfortunately I was very disappointed in this updated product. I’ve been successfully using the Traditional L’Oreal Casting since the very start of COVID and have unsatisfactorily tried the new version Twice. Using it on wet hair, per Instructions, makes it tacky and difficult to massage in. It didn’t have the same cover and was lighter in colour leaving my hair too light and streaky!
When I ordered this, I was so disappointed when it arrived as you are still advertising the, ‘Old Product Box’, and that’s what I expected to receive 😩!

ladies do NOT buy this, nothing like the colour on the box, made my brown hair literally PURPLE!!! luckily i did a strand test - i advise anyone reading this to always do one too. waste of money :,(

So disappointed in new version of Casting

Oh dear what have they done to the lovely casting hair colour? It’s a different colour and no longer leaves your hair shiny and glossy in a great condition. I’ve been using this brand for years and years and so very disappointed in this new version -it leaves my hair feeling very dry and in poor condition so need to find a replacement now.

Not an improvement

Like others who have written here, I am not happy at all with the new formula. The pigments are simply not the same colour as before, and however much L'Oreal might like to dispute this, they are 100% wrong.
In addition, and this is much more serious, this changed formula causes my skin to itch like crazy for weeks afterwards, especially in places where skin rubs against itself such as the navel and top side of elbow.
I used the old formula for years and years, so I do know that there is a difference. I was perfectly happy before. I am not now, but really don't know what to use instead. L'Oreal can deny what everyone says as much as they like, but their new formula is not as good and is potentially dangerous due to the skin reaction I have noted above.
