New formula causing irritation to my scalp.

Have been using Casting for years and always happy with the result but the change of formula over past few months is causing my scalp to feel really irritated once I put the dye in my hair it starts getting itchy within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately I will have to stop using it. Please L’Oréal bring back the old formula.

The new formulation is awful! It’s thinner than the original version and drips everywhere during application. I bought 513, which looks medium/dark brown on the box, but which has turned my hair a horrible harsh black. I used to really like this product but won’t be buying any more!

Been using this hair dye for years and have always been really happy. Got confused looking for medium brown now though as it is now called 500 Light Brown. Be careful as it is not , it is medium brown. Their new conditioner does not work for my hair. It left it frizzy and hard to style. The previous honey conditioner was so much better. I wish they had left the previous hair dye alone .

I received this product to test for free from BzzAgent. I found that the product was really easy to apply and smelt great (which is a big bonus compared to other hair dyes I've previously used!) The only minor issue I had when applying the dye was that the gloves were too small for my hands. I left it to develop for the allotted time and as soon as as I washed the dye out I could see that the colour was exactly what I wanted. I've previously tried to dye my hair darker than my natural colour and found that the result is too dark for my liking. With this dye however the colour was exactly as shown on the box and exactly what I wanted! What is more as well as the great colour my hair was also noticeably shinier than it was pre-colouring. The great thing is that the shine my hair had after colouring didn't fade away quickly. It's now been over a month since I dyed my hair and I still feel that it is looks shinier and healthier than it did before dying. Overall I'm really pleased with this product and would definitely use it again.

i choose this colour expecting my hair to be a lovely brown colour, i was very wrong it went on easy enough and i was very pleased until i saw the end result, my hair has turned black has gone extremely dry and has even started to fall out! i had no reaction but the colour alone and dryness is enough to say i wont ever recommend this product ever again!

The Chocolate colour is quite a nice reddish brown, but doesn’t cover the grey hairs too well. Also didn’t find it as glossy as other colours used in this range.

Warm Brown (reddish undertones)

I bought this colour to cover my grey hairs and previously highlighted hair. I've not dyed my hair in over 6 months so it desperately needed colouring! It covered all my greys and highlights. It's quite a warm brown with reddish undertones. It looks more on the red/brown side in natural light. Overall, happy with the product and it's left my hair feeling super soft!

Brought this to touch up my roots on my medium brown hair. I love the colour I wasn't sure at first as it looked a little warm on my roots where my greys were. However I have to say it has calmed down and I love the shade. My only negative is it does not give full coverage of those pesky greys. All in all great value for money and a lovely rich colour.

I bought this yesterday from your store to try , I not dyed my hair before, I have so many grey hairs that I wanted them to be coloured and this does a great job and in the sunlight the different colours show up nicely, my friend uses this semi permanent range so she did my hair . Certainly recommend it, I used Chocolate I posted on here as I couldn’t find many recent reviews so I thought I share my experience incase anyone else is not sure after reading the old reviews

I have just tried this product for the first time with 1010 light iced blonde , so pleased has given a nice natural look colour to my dark blonde hair leaving no horrible red tones like some colorants do. Hair feels soft and the smell was nice too. Very pleased.

600 Light Brown - Dissapointing

I have used Casting Creme Gloss several times in the past and have always been very happy with the colour results. These dyes have always left my hair silky soft and shiny after using. However, 600 Light Brown was a terrible colour that I would not recommend! My hair had not been dyed for a few months and was therefore my natural mousy brown/light blonde. 600 Light Brown has no depth of colour and has a rather blonde base. My hair does not look very different aside from looking more blonde! Not what I wanted! I am quite sure I have used this colour previously and therefore think L'Oreal may have changed the formula again. Conditioner also seems to be different.

Nourished colour.

So I got this casting creme gloss hair colour in chocolate for free from L'OrÃ©al and my hair feels amazing. I chose chocolate as it looked closest to my natural colour and I just wanted to cover my greys. It worked a treat which surprised me as it has no amonia in it. My hair feels nourished and it looks 'alive' again. Will definately be using this brand again as it's such a good colour. The only reason I have given 4 stars and not 5 is because I have thick shoulder length hair and I had to literally squeeze every drop out of the bottle and spread it as thinly as possible. Overall though, very good.

I dyed my hair today in preparation for going on holiday in 2 days and the colours is completely different. It is a really dark, almost black colour and I look awful. I have washed it 3 times today to try and tone it down but it's not changing. It always used to look natural but just looks like a bad dye job. I'm so upset that it will look so awful on holiday.

It's not washing out, it just gets more orange with each wash. Bring back the old formula please. It was a great product. The new formula is terrible and I won't risk using it again.

It left it frizzy and hard to style. The previous honey conditioner was so much better. I wish they had left the previous hair dye alone .

I love the colour I wasn't sure at first as it looked a little warm on my roots where my greys were. However I have to say it has calmed down and I love the shade. My only negative is it does not give full coverage of those pesky greys. All in all great value for money and a lovely rich colour.

It does come out darker than the box colour, but I wanted my hair dark again so I am happy with it. I would say go a shade lighter if you really don't want a dark colour. It does fade slightly with every wash, but after 2 and half months the colour was still looking nice and not too brassy as I used to cover old balayage. Use - Easy to use, gloves are a bit tight and one pair ripped. I needed to use two boxes for full coverage, but my hair is fairly long and quite thick. Grey coverage- not great, if you are looking to cover a substantial amount of grey hair I would avoid this product. My greys are slightly less obvious but still visible. Overall I am happy with how the colour turned out and I have used it twice now. It is very easy to work with and left my hair feeling and looking good.

It's easy to use, pretty good coverage, and leaves your hair feeling really soft and looking really shiny. I am allergic to lots of things and most hair dye stains my pale skin terribly (always shocks the hairdressers). I am neither allergic to this, nor do I get terrible stained skin. I've seen the bad reviews....not sure why you would complain that a brown hair dye has turned your hair brown. It kind of says it on the box. If you have dark brown hair and want to keep the grey at bay, I think this is a pretty good choice.

It’s a gorgeous rich chocolate colour easy to use with a great conditioner to apply afterwards. Only downside is the the cheap thin plastic gloves but I have my own here so just use tanning or domestic gloves instead. Overall a great home hair colour x

Rated 1 out of 5 by Lulu from Awful hair dye, just made my roots ginger I have naturally light/mouse brown hair and judging by the colour system on the packet I thought this would be good choice to get a medium brown colour with warm tones. Wow was I wrong. I ended up leaving the hair dye on for a bit longer than the recommended time as I know this is sometimes needed with hair dye. When I washed it off my hair was exactly the same colour, except my roots which were a gingery orange. Do not buy this colour!! Only plus is my hair feels well conditioned.

At the time I had dark blonde hair with horrible white blonde highlights so i thought this would blend them together more. The product itself did not feel stingy or irritable at all and the process was fairly easy. However, i was expecting a honey blonde colour and instead my hair is now... Ginger. Then again, it did give my hair a glossy look and the colour is quite lovely. If you buy this product i recommend doing a testing patch. If ginger is not your thing i would try something else.

I bought it in chocolate truffle and the colour at first was lovely very rich and glossy (a little darker than the box but then it always is until the first wash). However, unfortunately after just over 2 weeks (8 washes) the colour has disappeared and has washed out completely. I use standard L'Oreal shampoo for reference. A real shame as it's just not feasible to re-colour every fortnight.

These dyes have always left my hair silky soft and shiny after using. However, 600 Light Brown was a terrible colour that I would not recommend! My hair had not been dyed for a few months and was therefore my natural mousy brown/light blonde. 600 Light Brown has no depth of colour and has a rather blonde base. My hair does not look very different aside from looking more blonde! Not what I wanted! I am quite sure I have used this colour previously and therefore think L'Oreal may have changed the formula again. Conditioner also seems to be different.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I got this casting creme gloss hair colour in chocolate for free from L'OrÃ©al and my hair feels amazing. I chose chocolate as it looked closest to my natural colour and I just wanted to cover my greys. It worked a treat which surprised me as it has no amonia in it. My hair feels nourished and it looks 'alive' again. Will definately be using this brand again as it's such a good colour. The only reason I have given 4 stars and not 5 is because I have thick shoulder length hair and I had to literally squeeze every drop out of the bottle and spread it as thinly as possible. Overall though, very good.

I was quite impressed by this product overall. It didn't have that overpowering smell that most colouring kits come with. The conditioner, although not the greatest smell, was great. It left my hair smooth and sleek and shiny and lasted for an extra few washes. The ammonia free formula is great for those who wish to colour their hair but have an allergy to ammonia. I would suggest that if your hair is longer than shoulder length then use two boxes of the product as there was only just enough product to colour my hair which is just to my shoulders. The price of the product is good and is mearly a fraction of the cost of a professional colour at the salon. Overall I would say this is a good product

I'm always wary of the size of the product supplied, as I have long hair, I wouldn't say thick, but a lot of it! So I always struggle with getting a good coverage with shop bought ones. This however did surprise me... a lot.... it covered the whole of me hair with no scrimping and scraping the bottle out at the end. The smell of the product wasn't great though, in fact it was one of the worse I have used, I was on countdown to rinse off; the conditioner was slightly better but not great smelling. One the plus side, the conditioner has lasted 3 hair washes! The condition of my hair felt fab and refreshed, however the colour was only marginly darker than prior to dying. I had a red/purple tinge to my hair to start with, but as Casting Creme gloss said it was for highlighted and treated hair I thought I'd be in for a refreshing change. Not 1 person has noticed I have dyed my hair!! I did look healthier and better condtion but nothing worth raving about. I was gutted, maybe I should have left on longer because of the product already in my hair?... but it never said that on the instructions. I did find the instructions very 'busy' to read and jumps around the page, which was a little confusing. The gloves in the kit were better than average. Overall I'm sad to say I wont be purchasing this again as it just didnt colour my hair to the chocolate brown it said on the box.

Free from l'oreal I found a few grey strands of hair near my ears on the underside of hair. ð± So I was very glad to receive this product. Using it was easy, the smell was ok not too over powering and there was no dripping or splashing once on. In fact it was so good I did the washing up! Tee hee. Washing it out was easy too, didn't take long to rinse through clear and the condition was so nice. Once my hair was dry it was sliky smooth and smelt lovely. The colour was great, blended well with my original colour. After a day I checked where I had previously found a few grey strands and I have to say they were still there! Not as grey but I could certainly tell they were very different to the rest of the hair in the section. I did ask my hubby to double check and he was polite but could tell there were strands of a very different colour. Over all I loved the products coverage, smell, colour and after feel, but wouldnt recommend it for grey coverage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven't used dye on my hair in over a year as it was damaged and I wanted to give it a chance to recover. I was dubious of this product as it's not a permanent dye but as I'd received my Casting CrÃ¨me Gloss for free from L'Oreal Paris I figured it wouldn't harm me to give it a go. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It was much nicer and less "chemical" than other dyes I'd used previously. I have very thick hair but the Casting Creme Gloss covered it very well. It didn't drip the way that other colours I'd used in the past had. I left it for the recommended time then rinsed it well. It was quite thick so it did take a while to get out. When it was rinsed, even before I put the conditioner on, my hair felt quite soft which was great as usually it feels straw like before conditioning. The colour looks really natural and has covered the few grey hairs I had. I love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have dyed my hair for many years now and normally stay with the same brand and if asked would always recommend that brand. Since using L'oreal Casting CrÃ¨me Gloss this has changed. I am highly impressed with L'oreal Casting CrÃ¨me Gloss. The instructions are easy to follow although I was somewhat surprised to find that Step 1 Wanted you to have towel dried hair rather than dry hair. I have come across this when dying other peoples hair but not often. It caught me off guard. I had already made up the dye prior to reading step 1 and had to make mad dash to the bathroom to wet my hair ! After that it was plain sailing, there was no bad smell from the dye and putting it on was very easy. The dye was somewhat on the runny side but there was so much of it that I found myself wondering when it would end. After 30 minuets I washed the dye off and used the conditioner. It smells great and my hair is lovely and soft the box states 50% more conditioner and I am sure you could get a good couple of conditions out of the bottle. My hair has a rich glossy shine it looks healthy and all sings of Gray have gone! Over all I am very impressed with the product and feel happy to recommend to it to my friends.

I always choose this particular product because it's a semi permanent dye and after a recent episode that left my hair damaged, I try to soften the blow a little. This time I was offered the chance to try it for free. I was sent the product by L'Oreal and was more than happy to test it out and give my honest opinion, disregarding any previous experiences. I chose the shade called Chocolate. It seemed from the box to be a basic brown, something that would blend naturally. I have a peppering of grey hairs all over my head and was hopeful this product would hide them all, at least for 4 - 6 weeks. This is an easy product to use, just mix the two components and apply. The nozzle is perfect for reaching the roots and parting the hair in sections. I found there to be enough product to fully cover my shoulder length hair and in no time I was sitting back and letting it develop. The dye was a purpley brown colour on my head, but usually these things have no indication of the final result, so I wasn't too worried. 25 minutes later I was rinsing the dye from my hair and I was pleasantly surprised how easy this was. Something that usually takes a good 20 minutes of back breaking hair washing, was actually down to around 5. The water ran clear and it was time to add conditioner. I don't usually use the one that comes with the dye, but for the purposes of reviewing this product given to me for free, I made an exception. Especially because your hair tends to feel slightly straw like after dying it. After applying and rinsing the conditioner, I gently towel dried and left my hair to dry naturally. Once dry I could properly see the result and I will admit I was a little disappointed. Not all of my greys were gone. I could see a few peaking through along the parting. The colour actually was a dark brown with a slight purple tint on my lengths and a light golden brown on my roots. And my hair was so fluffy and full of static is was a nightmare to control. After the first wash it did settle down. And I was left with soft, shiny hair, albeit in a colour I didn't really like. This product is a great one, I just think it's better if you actually take your time to choose which colour would be best for you. Search the internet for previous reviews and see the real results rather than just relying on the pictures on the box. I would actually recommend this product I was given to try for free from L'Oreal. It does what it says it will, with the exception of a few grey hairs that escaped. But in a month or two I will be able to dye it again and hopefully get a better result. I think the main problem is that the colour was slightly too light for me. But L'Oreal is a trusted brand and one I would return to.

My hair was also a bit dry at first but that did pass fairly quickly after washing and conditioning a couple of times. I don't think the colour does match what's said on the box completely and a couple of people have also said they found the colour to look darker than they thought it would but overall I am pleased with how it looks, i didn't find the darker colour to be an issue i really like it. Overall I would recommend buying a shade lighter than what you would like but I think it is a good dye and I was very pleased with how the colour turned out.

The first thing I noticed was the gloves were a bit tight fitting. This was fine for my hands I have slim hands, but I was worried about having to take the gloves off and on incase they might rip But these were good quality glove. Right as for dying my hair usually I apply to dry hair all over, so it was a good job that I read the instructions. Seen as tho I dyed my hair two months ago I went for option B. I had mixed thoughts about this firstly wetting your hair without washing it, then applying just to the roots waiting 15 minutes then applying the rest to your hair and leaving it for 5 minutes. I wasn't sure if the colour would be right, would it be lights on the top and dark on the bottom?. So anyway I gave it a go? It was messy, it didn't drip and when it came to washing it out, there was plenty conditioner for my hair and I see straight away that it did cover all my grey hairs. After drying my hair off I loved it, My hair was shiny and glossy,soft to touch and smelt so fruity the colour was lovely it was not light on the top and dark on the bottom which I thought it might be. I absolutely love the colour. I've washed it now about 15times and the colour still hasn't faded. My friends have commented and said they absolutely love the colour my hair looks shiny and healthy. I told them what to buy L'Oreal Paris creme Gloss I would recommend this product to anyone. Sorry I forgot to take a before and after picture

The product was easy to mix and after twenty minutes was ready to wash off. Pleasantly surprised to find it had a lovely fragrance to it. The bottle of conditioner was thick and plenty left to use again, with a lovely fruity smell. My hair is now shiny and soft and best off all grey free. Will definitely be buying this from now on.

It's a semi permanent colour and lasts up to 28 shampoos. I also recently changed from blonde to brunette and although I like being brunette, I wasn't 100% happy with my overall colour (which I did myself). So, I jumped at the opportunity of getting something free from L'Oreal as I love their make up and their reputation is so good. The first thing which caught my attention was the shape of the box. It really stands out on the shelf. As most of these products are, this one was also simple to use. They all claim to be non-drip but I find that that this depends entirely on how careful and diligent you are in using the product instead of the texture of the product itself. When it was all done and dried, I can say that my hair has a glossy finsh as promised by L'Oreal. It didn't smell too bad, either, while I was doing it. In fact, I like it so much that I'm a little miffed that it's not permanent! All in all, a nicely-presented product, which works well and leaves a good result. Would recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by charlietiggerific from Not for me [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received Casting Creme Gloss in Chocolate for free from L'Oreal Paris and I am afraid I was rather disappointed with how well it didn't cover my greys. Here's my overall thoughts...To start with the gloves were really small...I have small hands so was quite surprised at how snug the gloves were and so were hard to get on and off without ripping. The applicator bottle was easy to use and I like how it was a screw top rather than a twist and break off which can tend to scratch your scalp...the screw top meant there was a nice smooth edge. It was very similar to other dyes in how you apply, leave on and rinse. The one difference from what I am used to is that you wet your hair first before applying the dye. I didn't like the conditioner scent...it really is not my cup of tea however it does leave your hair feeling smooth and well conditioned...if you can handle the scent it is very good. For me this didn't provide good grey coverage...it added a slight hint of brown to the grey but you can still see the grey which is rather disappointing...I tried to photograph this but don't think it shows clearly. I am wondering if perhaps I needed a darker colour dye so perhaps I am being unfair about the results, however I do think that whatever colour was used it should have covered the greys.

It covered all of my grey hair and the effects seem to be lasting longer than any other hair colourant I have used in the past. I would really recommend it to my friends as it is doing its job pretty well.

I wanted to know if this product would be easy to apply and give good results at covering grey hair. Like all hair colorants to use at home, its a bit messy, which is why I gave this product 4 out of 5 stars. With enough preparation of the bathroom and using old towels, it was achievable to colour my hair under 30 minutes overall. The instructions are easy to understand and the kit had everything I needed to colour my hair. It was great to have the empty product box, that stood up well, while using it to empty the used items in, for disposal. So after applying and a short wait, into the shower for a good rinse till the water runs clear and applying the conditioning product included. On leaving the shower, I could see instantly, my hair was a great colour and the grey was covered and gone. I couldn't wait to dry my hair off to see the result properly. I wasn't disappointed. After drying and straightening, I was delighted with the shine, colour and fresh texture of my hair. A great product and worth trying. Unfortunately, I forgot to take before and after photos!

While it's only a temporary hair colour, it means you can try it out, and if you don't like it, it will wash out within a couple of months and you can try a different shade. I just wanted to cover my greys as opposed to changing my hair colour. I was a little worried that the Chocolate shade would be too light, but as it was going on my already dark brown hair, it wasn't at all. My hair is a very similar colour which is fortunate because my hair still matches my extensions, and my hair now has a lovely glossy sheen to it. I would recommend this product looking for a temporary hair colour. I've used this product many times in the past as well and have always found it to be reliable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I uusally use another brand of hair dye and was going to purchase it as my hair was literally needing some love and this campaign popped into my email, how could I not?I have to say that I am so glad that I accepted this campaign as my hair feels and looks so amazing right now because of this hair dye. So easy to use and takes no time at all. LOve it and will be using again in the future.

I used it on my 70 year old mum as her hair looked rather grey, neglected, dull and frizzy. It was so easy to use and after using the conditioner as an after treatment, her hair looked in such amazing condition. She has kept the shade name from the box to buy it again next time :D

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been dying my hair for many years and in that time I have tried many many different products, but Casting CrÃ¨me Gloss from L'Oreal Paris has got to be one of my favourites. To be honest it isn't one I would have picked up from the shelf as it isn't permanent and with a one year old I don't have much time for treating myself to haircare!! For this reason I am over the moon I had the chance to try it for free as it is definitely going to be my first choice when colouring my hair in future! The box looked a nice shape and included the 2 part dye mixture, conditioner, gloves and easy to follow instructions. The first thing I noticed was that the contents all looked sparkly which was promising! I opened up the instructions and I was firstly suprised that you put the dye on wet hair rather than dry, then I was suprised it only took 20 minutes for the dye to work! I wet my hair, dryed it a bit then opened the gloves, this was actually the only negative point I can make of the whole experience! I have quite small hands and I struggled to get the gloves on! Granted once they were on they did their job and didn't rip or leak dye onto my hands. I mixed the dye, which was nice and easy then applied to my hair. I could see the shimmer in the dye itself which was promising and it was actually a lot easier to apply to wet hair than I thought! There was no nasty smell, so no headache whilst applying! I usually buy 2 bottles as my hair is long and thick but one did the job quite nicely, though my hair was a similar colour beforehand. I even accidently spilt some of the dye on the floor and was amazed that it came up straight away with a wet wipe! Once my hair was all coloured there was a 20 minute wait, I could see then that it was working and had a lovely shimmer to it! I then went in the shower to rinse the dye out my hair, this splashed everywhere, I was a bit nervous that my white tiles were going to be dyed brown but I was pleased when it just rinsed away! The dye was really easy to rinse out and the conditioner was plentiful and pleasant smelling. After the rinse I could see immediately that the colour had worked, even though my hair was wet. I dried it off and I was so happy with the colour! The dye I used was chocolate and my hair, for the first time ever, looked the colour shown on the box! It felt lovely to touch and for the first time in a very long time I actually wore my hair down as I felt so happy and comfortable with it! It smelt lovely, it had a lovely shine and the colour was just what I wanted! I don't even mind that it washes out after 28 shampoos because it was so easy to put in and if it gives this lease of life to my usually boring and dry hair then I can't wait for the next application!

I havnt dyed my hair in over a year so i was abit deabous about dying it but it was so easy and pleasnt to do that i will be using this dye again.
