Changed product not good

I used the Medium Brown 600 colour for years – it had a rich vibrant tone while not being overly dark. I was dismayed to find it had been replaced with Dark Blonde 600 – not the same colour at all, flatter and duller with a gingery note. Now, confusingly, Medium Brown 600 on the shelves again (new formula) but it is really the Dark blonde product, still a duller, lighter shade. The new conditioner doesn’t leave hair glossy, but dull and matt looking. Why mess with a great popular product? Please bring back the original Med Brown 600. Look at how the reviews have fallen off a cliff.

New formula causing irritation to my scalp.

Have been using Casting for years and always happy with the result but the change of formula over past few months is causing my scalp to feel really irritated once I put the dye in my hair it starts getting itchy within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately I will have to stop using it. Please L’Oréal bring back the old formula.

I really hope you will drop this new formula and revert to the original one that I've been using for the past 25 years. I always had so many compliments on my hair and I recommended Casting Creme Gloss to all my friends. Not now though, this new one is horrible. Half way through doing my roots the product congealed inside the bottle and there was no getting it out to complete the job, I had to open a new box so it cost me twice what it should have. This has happened the two last times I've used this product. As others have said it doesn't cover the grey very well and the condition it leaves your hair in is not acceptable. I've now got to find an alternative. Please, please go back to the original formula it, was so easy to use and the results were really very good. This new formula is awful, I'd give it zero stars if I could.

No L’Oréal - just NO!!

L’Oréal!! What have you done!? I have been using this product for many, many years - various colours - and have absolutely loved it. The compliments I used to get for my lovely shiny hair were many. Lately because of my grey roots I have used 600 which was the perfect colour for me. Alas I just bought two boxes as usual and it is dreadful!! At first I wondered why the mixed colour was white… but it did turn brown eventually which meant I didn’t see any splashes on my face until last minute. The conditioner smelled and had a weak consistency. I usually leave the conditioner on for at least 6 minutes and my hair is tangle free - Not this time! My hair was matted and very, very dark! It looked dreadful! None of the usual shine and bounce - just flat, dry and dull looking! Thankfully I had some conditioner left from one of the original boxes which rescued it a bit. Now I have to try and find another brand or perhaps finally go to a salon for my root touch up! Hopefully L’Oréal get to see these reviews and get their act together! Bring back the old formula! Please!!

The new formulation is awful! It’s thinner than the original version and drips everywhere during application. I bought 513, which looks medium/dark brown on the box, but which has turned my hair a horrible harsh black. I used to really like this product but won’t be buying any more!

Colour has changed - DO NOT USE

I have used Light Brown creme gloss for years and have always been really pleased with the result. I dyed my hair today in preparation for going on holiday in 2 days and the colours is completely different. It is a really dark, almost black colour and I look awful. I have washed it 3 times today to try and tone it down but it's not changing. It always used to look natural but just looks like a bad dye job. I'm so upset that it will look so awful on holiday.

I have used L'OREAL semi permanent Castings for a few years now. I find it very good. After putting on the conditioner at the end of the procedure it leaves your hair really soft and shining. I am in my late sixties so have to be careful not to leave it on any longer than the 25 minutes suggested as it colours my hair to dark for my skin colour. I am thinking of going a shade lighter as nothing look worse on an older person than your hair colour being to dark. I think it is brilliant and can recommend it 100%.

I've had this problem with casting colours before, the cplour on the pack is no reflection of the colour result! I was aiming for a light brown as it says on the pack and as the colour on the box would imply, but it came out a VERY dark dark shade of brown, - nothing at all like the colour guide!

I dyed my hair with Iced Truffle two days ago. I thought I was being super cautious going for a medium brown as I wanted a cool chocolate brown and know they always come out darker… my hair is basically black. The difference is hysterical. At least the conditioner is gorgeous smelling…

Terrible new formula

I recently used the new formula for colour 306. It's made my hair really brassy and seems to have dyed it rather than just colouring it. It's not washing out, it just gets more orange with each wash. Bring back the old formula please. It was a great product. The new formula is terrible and I won't risk using it again.

I bought this hair dye as I usually do, and it unfortunately doesn’t work as well as it used to. It’s durable, but extremely low quality, and I have no idea why they changed the formula. It’s definitely not an improvement of coverage, and I don’t think I would recommend

New formula not good

I have been using Castings for years and Universal Nudes. There is a definite difference in this new formula that ok really do not like and find too worrying to continue to use. On application the dye when developing turned a distinctive green colour. Although my hair didn't turn green it certainly was not as shiny etc as the previous formula in fact it was quite drying. I tried it again just in case it was a one off problem and the same thing happened. I have been using the same 603 shade for years so I have not dramatically changed hair colour. I will not chance using it again. Please revert to the original ingredients. Although loreal insist it is the same it certainly doesn't react the same therefore sadly I will have to find an alternative.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Solitaire from Very unhappy with the changed formula. I really hope you will drop this new formula and revert to the original one that I've been using for the past 25 years. I always had so many compliments on my hair and I recommended Casting Creme Gloss to all my friends. Not now though, this new one is horrible. Half way through doing my roots the product congealed inside the bottle and there was no getting it out to complete the job, I had to open a new box so it cost me twice what it should have. This has happened the two last times I've used this product. As others have said it doesn't cover the grey very well and the condition it leaves your hair in is not acceptable. I've now got to find an alternative. Please, please go back to the original formula it, was so easy to use and the results were really very good. This new formula is awful, I'd give it zero stars if I could.

The compliments I used to get for my lovely shiny hair were many. Lately because of my grey roots I have used 600 which was the perfect colour for me. Alas I just bought two boxes as usual and it is dreadful!! At first I wondered why the mixed colour was white… but it did turn brown eventually which meant I didn’t see any splashes on my face until last minute. The conditioner smelled and had a weak consistency. I usually leave the conditioner on for at least 6 minutes and my hair is tangle free - Not this time! My hair was matted and very, very dark! It looked dreadful! None of the usual shine and bounce - just flat, dry and dull looking! Thankfully I had some conditioner left from one of the original boxes which rescued it a bit. Now I have to try and find another brand or perhaps finally go to a salon for my root touch up! Hopefully L’Oréal get to see these reviews and get their act together! Bring back the old formula! Please!!

I dyed my hair today in preparation for going on holiday in 2 days and the colours is completely different. It is a really dark, almost black colour and I look awful. I have washed it 3 times today to try and tone it down but it's not changing. It always used to look natural but just looks like a bad dye job. I'm so upset that it will look so awful on holiday.

It's not washing out, it just gets more orange with each wash. Bring back the old formula please. It was a great product. The new formula is terrible and I won't risk using it again.

There is a definite difference in this new formula that ok really do not like and find too worrying to continue to use. On application the dye when developing turned a distinctive green colour. Although my hair didn't turn green it certainly was not as shiny etc as the previous formula in fact it was quite drying. I tried it again just in case it was a one off problem and the same thing happened. I have been using the same 603 shade for years so I have not dramatically changed hair colour. I will not chance using it again. Please revert to the original ingredients. Although loreal insist it is the same it certainly doesn't react the same therefore sadly I will have to find an alternative.

It’s a different colour and no longer leaves your hair shiny and glossy in a great condition. I’ve been using this brand for years and years and so very disappointed in this new version -it leaves my hair feeling very dry and in poor condition so need to find a replacement now.

The pigments are simply not the same colour as before, and however much L'Oreal might like to dispute this, they are 100% wrong. In addition, and this is much more serious, this changed formula causes my skin to itch like crazy for weeks afterwards, especially in places where skin rubs against itself such as the navel and top side of elbow. I used the old formula for years and years, so I do know that there is a difference. I was perfectly happy before. I am not now, but really don't know what to use instead. L'Oreal can deny what everyone says as much as they like, but their new formula is not as good and is potentially dangerous due to the skin reaction I have noted above.

Got confused looking for medium brown now though as it is now called 500 Light Brown. Be careful as it is not , it is medium brown. Their new conditioner does not work for my hair. It left it frizzy and hard to style. The previous honey conditioner was so much better. I wish they had left the previous hair dye alone .

The colour is completely different - much lighter and it has left my hair a nasty gingery colour and it is not semi-permanent - I have root growth showing back. Also why apply to wet hair? Also 20 minutes does not seem enough time for the colour to develop properly.

When I bought the Light brown this time I noticed that the colour number had changed from 600 to 500 but it still said Light Brown. I trusted that it would give me the same colour. How wrong I was! I now have hair much darker than l wanted. If you intend to change names / numbers you should make it perfectly clear how the new match the old. Reading recent reviews it appears I am not the only one who got caught out like this. Not good for customer relations.

Not a gloss Feel bad writing not great reviews, but I just feel I should warn anyone looking to use this as a gloss treatment rather than to change the colour of your hair - this doesn’t work. My hair was looking slightly dull so I used the casting crème “gloss” in a shade the same colour as my hair. It’s not in the slightest bit glossy! It’s almost mattifying. My hair looks so damaged now, it’s horrible. The colour is nice, but just so so dull. It also smells really strong for a semi permanent dye.

It does come out darker than the box colour, but I wanted my hair dark again so I am happy with it. I would say go a shade lighter if you really don't want a dark colour. It does fade slightly with every wash, but after 2 and half months the colour was still looking nice and not too brassy as I used to cover old balayage. Use - Easy to use, gloves are a bit tight and one pair ripped. I needed to use two boxes for full coverage, but my hair is fairly long and quite thick. Grey coverage- not great, if you are looking to cover a substantial amount of grey hair I would avoid this product. My greys are slightly less obvious but still visible. Overall I am happy with how the colour turned out and I have used it twice now. It is very easy to work with and left my hair feeling and looking good.

I bought 2 boxes as I have long hair so I wanted to make sure the hair was saturated. I got my husband to apply it using a brush and sectioning. The colour was fantastic!! Just like the box, very even coverage and I have received so many compliments. Hair is also in fab condition, very shiny and healthy. It did fade a lot after 2 weeks and I made a very very silly mistake and put the next darker shade medium brown on top - don’t do that, my hair is now very very very dark. Washing it twice a day with head and shoulders to fade it out a bit. But this shade is stunning!

It's easy to use, pretty good coverage, and leaves your hair feeling really soft and looking really shiny. I am allergic to lots of things and most hair dye stains my pale skin terribly (always shocks the hairdressers). I am neither allergic to this, nor do I get terrible stained skin. I've seen the bad reviews....not sure why you would complain that a brown hair dye has turned your hair brown. It kind of says it on the box. If you have dark brown hair and want to keep the grey at bay, I think this is a pretty good choice.

I originally had blonde highlights but they were growing out and I wanted a change so decided to try going darker for the first time. This was the first time I dyed my hair myself, super easy to do. The colour comes out as a rich medium brown, I still want slightly darker so I am now buying a darker shade and dying it again. But it smells absolutely lovely and leaves your hair silky and shiny and feels so healthy. I can’t believe how cheap and good this is, I prefer it to anything I’ve had done at the salon and it’s nowhere near the price :)

One thing I always find no matter what colour I go for is it always end up darker than what it looks like on the box. I usually go for Medium Brown 500 but it looks black for the initial couple of weeks. I love the colour once it’s faded a bit but not wanting to wait that long I tried Light Brown 600. This is definitely not a light brown but more of a medium/dark with warm undertones I was looking for. I do leave mine on for a long time to cover greys which I think contributes to the end result being darker than if you left it on for 10 minutes. But for anyone looking for a light brown don’t be swayed by the colour on the box. Go lighter to be on the safe side.

The colourant works well but the change to the conditioner is dreadful. It is much thinner than the previous conditioner and the slightly salty smell of peanuts is nauseating, certainly not something that I want to have hanging around my head all day. It scarcely untangles my hair, leaving it unnourished and totally without shine. As L'Oreal say "you're worth it", but in this case I am worth a whole lot more than this appalling concoction; please go back to the original or the honey conditioner as I certainly don't enjoy spending my day smelling like Nelly the elephant. I have given two stars are because the colourant does work, however the lack of condition and shine have reduced the score considerably. Overall an unpleasant and very nasty product.

At the time I had dark blonde hair with horrible white blonde highlights so i thought this would blend them together more. The product itself did not feel stingy or irritable at all and the process was fairly easy. However, i was expecting a honey blonde colour and instead my hair is now... Ginger. Then again, it did give my hair a glossy look and the colour is quite lovely. If you buy this product i recommend doing a testing patch. If ginger is not your thing i would try something else.

I bought it in chocolate truffle and the colour at first was lovely very rich and glossy (a little darker than the box but then it always is until the first wash). However, unfortunately after just over 2 weeks (8 washes) the colour has disappeared and has washed out completely. I use standard L'Oreal shampoo for reference. A real shame as it's just not feasible to re-colour every fortnight.

These dyes have always left my hair silky soft and shiny after using. However, 600 Light Brown was a terrible colour that I would not recommend! My hair had not been dyed for a few months and was therefore my natural mousy brown/light blonde. 600 Light Brown has no depth of colour and has a rather blonde base. My hair does not look very different aside from looking more blonde! Not what I wanted! I am quite sure I have used this colour previously and therefore think L'Oreal may have changed the formula again. Conditioner also seems to be different.

The prodcut was so easy to use with simple instructions and diagrams included which were easy to follow. I found the formula quite thick and creamy and this meant it was extremely easy to apply with no mess and it stayed on the hair without dripping everywhere. Unfortunately, I thought the conditioner had a very unappealing fragrance which remained in my hair after rinsing. The overall change in the colour of my hair was very subtle, however, it was still a nice colour and it left my hair lovely and shiny, so overall I am very pleased with the out come.

The instructions were easy to read on the information leaflet and the diagrams were also easy to follow. It was also good to see that they advised you (with diagrams and written instructions) on how to cover your hair if you had already dyed it or are dying it for the first time. It was as easy as 1,2,3! There are only three bottles that you need to worry about. Bottle one goes into bottle two and then shake. Once the mixture is mixed then you can apply according to what you want to do. Mine was easy, I needed to cover the whole head as I was using it for the first time. The description on the carton says that it is a non drip creme - and it was correct!! There was no need for me to worry about the dye running down my face or neck - which is always nice as there is nothing worse than dye running everywhere. The scent of the dye was pleasant, in fact it is nice not to smell ammonia - because there is none in it!!! The die washed out quick and easy and then I added the conditioner - wow I loved the smell of the conditioner - it is very addictive. Not only is the smell absolutely gorgeous but it made my hair extremely shine and feel so soft. It was nice to see that there was more conditioner than some of the competitors offerings as I always find that the little tubes that you get only really do one wash. With this 60ml bottle I managed to just about get 3 washes out of it - Would I recommend this to my friends - yes! Would I be using it again - yes! Thank you L'Oreal Paris for my FREE Casting Creme Gloss!!!
